Help us find the Moroccan butterflies! We are a team of scientists and we need to carry out an expedition to Morocco in May of 2018 to finish our study about four different butterfly species!
Dear friends, the goal of this project is to carry out a 2 week expedition to Morocco in May of 2018, to study 4 species of butterflies. We will study the genetics of these butterflies in the laboratory of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon.
What for?
With this information we can answer question such as: How did these butterflies evolve during the last few thousand years? How did they differ over time? How are they adapting currently with climate change? More importantly we intend to identify which populations are at greater risk and that should be conserved.
This expedition to Morocco will complement the work that our team as done previously in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Greece, all these countries where our study species occur. In previous expeditions we have gathered intersting knowledge about butterflies, chameleons, lizards, cicadas, flies, and even led to the discovery of new species for Science!
