AEDS supports young adults with multiple disabilities. With the acquisition of a 9-seater vehicle, we intend to work on several issues, through greater access to the community.
The full inclusion of citizens with disabilities, as well as the recognition and promotion of their fundamental rights, is a priority assumed daily by AEDS, as an Institution with social responsibilities to support situations of great vulnerability. In this way, and knowing that this population is one of those who suffer the most prejudice and social exclusion, the institution's responsibility is almost inherent in the development of projects and activities/initiatives (internal and external) that allow the "opening of doors" to the community. . Taking all these facts into account, we intend to obtain economic support for a vehicle that allows us to intervene better in several issues, namely: carrying out different and different activities outside the Institution (eg Swimming, Therapeutic Riding, tours in the community...), promoting if, in this way, cognitive, motor and social skills; to promote different types of transport, whether for people with disabilities or not, as well as for families who use our services and for the institution's logistical support and, finally, promote the development of partnerships between institutions, both in the field of Disability and relative to other existing valences, since the principle of social inclusion is that people can have stable social and affective relationships, avoiding isolation and social exclusion.
So, and to achieve this goal, we turn to all of you! Help us help and transform lives! Help us make the world of those who use us a little easier and better!

About the author
Our Instuon has gone through several chapters, which drive our current work every day:
1979: First records of the meeting of a group of people committed to solving the problems of the education of deaf children - the State did not offer convincing solutions and the religious institutions did not seduce them either. APECDA in Porto began on April 10, 1979, with the recognition of the Lisbon-based organization.
1982: The headquarters at Rua das Escolas, which it currently occupies, was ceded by the Parish Council of Campanhã.
1997: It became autonomous from the national APECDA. With the establishment of several partnerships, it has a history of development/participation in several projects: installation of the Lar do Pêgo Negro Residences, in 1997, and the Casa de Moalde, in 2006 (preceded by the Cerco do Porto Residence, in 2002); Technological Communication Project for the Deaf; publications of the Communicare magazine; Lusophone Gestures Program; promotion of courses in different areas of its activity, with a view to qualifying its human resources.
2003: Started support for the needy population of Campanhã, providing hygiene and food care, which would give rise to the Social Canteen. This year, it also helped to promote the activities of the Professional Integration Center for the Deaf.
2004: Support facilities for hearing impaired users and young people were created: Office of Psychology and Speech Therapy, Library and Playroom. However, some of these activities were terminated, due to lack of resources and changes in original needs. As a result of the emerging needs to respond to children and young people with hearing impairment, as well as those in need of support, and against the backdrop of its main mission, this year it presents itself as an institution that acts in various aspects of the lives of these people, responding through various services: institutional reception, support for families, transport and food for their children and young people.
2006: It renewed its presence as an institution of social solidarity, covering its activity to the analysis of all requests for support that are of benefit to the entire community and, in particular, to children and young people. During this period, the Institution consists of the head office (Administrative Services, CATL, Social Canteen and Transport Service) and two more facilities, a Support Home - Casa do Pego Negro - and a Residential Home, currently in operation in the so-called Casa do Pego Negro. of the Lizard.
2017: Becomes the current AEDS, encompassing all the services mentioned above.
2021: In October, it finally saw its CATL - Educational Center - converted into CACI, with the establishment of a new cooperation agreement with ISS Porto.
