35 years after the first recording, Pedro Burmester returns to Bach's monumental work with a more mature approach. With him, we explore the technical challenge of each variation, Bach's genius, and the musical architecture of this divine filigree.

"Goldberg Revisited" by Pedro Burmester and the return to Goldberg variations.

In this approximately 50-minute documentary, guided by the interpreter, we will discover the enormous technical challenge behind each variation, understand Bach's genius, and the musical architecture of a divine filigree.

Through the attentive and experienced observation of filmmaker and musician Laurent Filipe, we will understand the fascination this work exerts, what is (re)discovered in it, and what the risks or possible surprises are of returning to the work.

“Goldberg Revisited” is expected to reach international festivals, sparking public interest in the value of Bach's work and one of its internationally acclaimed and outstanding interpreters: Pedro Burmester.

The documentary will be made in 2026.

A documentary of high educational, artistic and cultural value.

It introduces the general public to the importance and scope of Bach's work, in a journey guided by one of its greatest and best interpreters, the Portuguese pianist Pedro Burmester, through the attentive and experienced eye of the filmmaker and musician Laurent Filipe.

Given the universal value of the work and the project and challenge we have set ourselves, we need additional support to allow for a production and execution that is appropriate to the international quality that "Goldberg Revisited" and Pedro Burmester deserve.
