One day, a little girl asked me what had happened to the babies in my belly. This story is born to satisfy the curiosity of all boys and girls!
"Where do unborn babies go?" is a children's book that flourishes from a personal experience and aims to help children to understand, with lightness and peace, situations of termination of pregnancy of those closest to them.
Because children are naturally curious, they ask a lot of questions. And some questions are hard to answer. This book aims to satisfy the curiosity of the former, while help adults in this task.
Despite the theme, this story is written lightly and naturally, with some humor and hope!
The campaign aims to support the costs of illustration, which will be authored by Ana Oliveira, who adds a unique beauty and intuition through her art (ana-oliveira.pt)!
Having overcome the initial objective, I intend, with your help, to support an incredible project that the non-profit organization, Pais Coragem, a support group for parents who lose their children in pregnancy, will soon launch at the Alfredo da Costa Maternity Hospital, in Lisbon! This project will allow parents who lose their babies during pregnancy or after birth to create memories of their children!
Thus, in addition to the illustration costs, the total amount raised will also allow the purchase of a camera so that the babies can be later remembered by their families, helping their mourning.
About the author
Patrícia Sarmento is, among other things, a mother: of two girls who were not born and a boy, who was born later and is very much alive, with 6 years old now!
Patrícia is also a wife, daughter, granddaughter, among other family roles, and a psychologist, trainer, among other professional roles.
Her desire with this story is to help children understand what can happen to unborn babies and demystify this taboo that is the involuntary termination of pregnancy.
One day, Patricia didn't know what to answer to the daughter of a close friend, when she asked where her babies had gone. Therefore, she now intends to help other parents to have some answer to the curiosity of children who witness this situation up close.
Your support will help many families (maybe yours too?) and will certainly help her and her husband to make some sense of their grief experiences.
