ALLOSTASIS is a short film developed by students at ETIC Algarve, as part of the Audiovisual Project IV module. At the moment, our project is in the pre-production phase and we are looking for your support to bring it to fruition.
What makes our project special:
Addressing themes such as emotional dependence, acceptance, addictions and the search for freedom, our project seeks to show that it is not the end of the world if we let go of addictions rooted in us to find ourselves again. Sometimes we have the feeling that we could have done more, that one more attempt could have given us everything we always wanted.
With this, we tried to show this story about a young man who gets lost in someone's arms and doesn't see a way out of this vicious cycle. The breaking of a bond is something that changes our life trajectories completely and ends up defining us forever.
Through this story, we intend to show how a relationship can be as harmful to us as the act of lighting a cigarette, both being a momentary escape from real problems, but which end up slowly killing us. Our project aims to highlight that it is possible to overcome these emotional ties and addictions, highlighting the importance of seeking true freedom and rebuilding our lives.
Project Vision:
Allostasis explores themes such as love, emotional dependence, addictions, freedom and acceptance. Through the characters' journeys, we want to deliver an engaging narrative that resonates with the audience, addressing universal issues of identity, coming of age, and the difficult task of letting go.
Furthermore, Allostasis aims to challenge stereotypes and conventional standards, we want to promote inclusion and diverse representation by offering an honest perspective on human relationships, regardless of sexual orientation.
Synopsis:
In Allostasis we follow the journey of Afonso and Marco, inseparable friends involved in a toxic relationship. Between cigarettes, music and moments of fleeting happiness, they confront their emotional demons in a chaotic night. The story reveals the ups and downs of this bond, between intense connections and emotional exhaustion, showing the struggle to preserve a passionate connection as it falls apart.
