Publication of 3 children's books!

Books that help to raise awareness.

My name is Alexandra Balugas and I am a designer, illustrator and author of children's books.

During the last 2 years I had the opportunity to write and illustrate 6 children's books. I published them through an author's edition on the amazon platform. I am very grateful to this platform, because it allowed me to start selling my books without any cost. I think it's a wonderful platform for selling adult books. However, it is not that effective in selling children's books, since it does not allow the publication of books with a hardcover finish. This is the most suitable finish for this type of audience.

I created this crowdfunding campaign because I think the time has come to enable a higher quality, hardcover edition of my books. This will allow it to gain more prominence in sales shops, and thus be more visible to more potential readers. My goal is to make a hardcover edition of 300 copies of 3 of my books.

This project is very important for me, because I notice that the problems that were affected in adulthood, originated in childhood. Therefore, I think it is essential to intervene in this phase of human development, through reading. Books that depict rich emotional and spiritual experiences, in a playful way, have the ability to sow these contents into the human unconscious.

I will now describe each book.

Livro A menina Dado

The dice girl

Once upon a time there was a girl named Alexandra Dado. Did this girl have that name because she had a cube-shaped body? No. Or did that girl have a square head?

She had this name because her father wanted the object, the dice, to be her magic toy, to connect her to the world of desires.

This is a story about playing with dice, books that keep cards, and messages about the mysterious world of wishes! Or is the life that is mysterious?

Cinderella Shoes Factory

The not Sleeping Beauty

The curse was broken after fifteen years with the arrival of a prince at her sacred temple...

This story is a journey about the female universe. In which menstruation, rape, pregnancy, abortion, nature and the moon have the opportunity to be seen, through another light. It is an invitation to explore the sacred feminine.

About the author

I I was born in 1980 in Barreiro (Portugal) and since I was child I felt a desire to help others. This has led me to work for twelve years in the health field, as a Lab technician. My passion for the arts led me to study Design at the Faculty of Architecture in Lisbon (Portugal) in 2014.

I’m the author of children's literature, because I learned that childhood and adolescence are crucial stages in human development. I am committed to helping to awaken the mental, emotional and spiritual awareness of the younger generations. I assume that my mission is to contribute, through my works, to a future with young people with powerful beliefs, well prepared for the challenges of adult life and happy.

Budget and due dates

Budget

€ 2700 - printing of 900 books: 300 copies of the book “The dice girl”, 300 copies of the book “Cinderella shoes Factory” and 300 copies of the book “The not sleeping beauty”;

250 € - PPL platform commission.

Timetable

24 December 2020 - end of crowdfunding campaign;
1 January 2021 - files input in the printing press;
January 2021 - dispatch of the book (s) and print arts to all those who contributed to the campaign.
