SOS Lapedo Valley: Let's rebuild our park;

Storm Kristin destroyed the Lapedo Valley Green Park in Santa Eufémia. Between fallen trees, damaged walkways, and cut-off access, our green lung needs help. Let's rebuild Lapedo!;

The Lapedo Valley , in Santa Eufémia , is more than a park; it is a unique natural heritage and a refuge for us all. Unfortunately, the force of Storm Kristin left a deep mark of destruction in the heart of this green lung.

The current situation is devastating and requires urgent intervention . The park is currently closed and inaccessible due to the severity of the damage.

• Natural Obstruction : Numerous trees were knocked down by the wind, falling onto waterways and the riverbank, which represents an increased risk of flooding.
• Infrastructure Destroyed : Part of the walkways and fences were destroyed; the street furniture (tables and benches) that sheltered our families was reduced to rubble.
• Accessibility Cut Off : The parking lot is inaccessible and the access roads have been severely affected by landslides and the dragging of tons of earth and mud.
• Biodiversity at Risk : The lawn and recreational areas are covered in debris, preventing the natural regeneration of the space.

Our Goal

This campaign stems from a desire not to give up. We want to return the Lapedo Valley to the community, but the cost of the extensive cleanup and reconstruction of the infrastructure exceeds our immediate capabilities.

Where will the support be applied ?

1. Cleaning and Safety : Machinery rental for removing mud and trees from waterways.
2. Reconstruction: Repair of walkways and fences to ensure the safety of visitors.
3. Renovation: Restoration of the parking lot and replacement of street furniture (tables and benches).
4. Green regeneration - sowing / planting / monitoring / maintenance of lawn areas .
5. Solar lighting - replacement of poles and lamps.

Lapedo needs hands to help it get back on its feet. Every contribution is a step towards us walking these trails together again.

The Lapedo Valley , in Santa Eufémia, is one of our greatest treasures; a heritage that defines us and is an absolute priority in our management. However, in the face of the devastation caused by Storm Kristin, this cannot be a project undertaken solely by the Parish Council. We have taken on the coordination of this campaign because we believe that great causes are resolved within the community. We are the institutional face, but the heart of this project is all the parishioners, friends of Lapedo, and fellow citizens in general.

The severity of the damage demands immediate intervention that exceeds the current resources of the local authority . Therefore, we are opening this door to the participation of everyone—individuals, companies, and patrons—who share our vision: that the natural heritage of Lapedo is invaluable and must be handed over intact to future generations.

Commitment to Transparency :

The Union of Parishes guarantees rigorous and transparent management, ensuring that each donation will be fully applied to the recovery of the Valley's infrastructure and biodiversity, as detailed in our budget.

Tax Benefits Statute

As a local authority, donations made may benefit from increased tax benefits under the Personal Income Tax (IRS) and Corporate Income Tax (IRC) regimes, in accordance with the Tax Benefits Statute (Sponsorship Law).

Budget and due dates

BUDGET

The reconstruction of the Vale do Lapedo Green Park is a large-scale project budgeted at €68,100.00 (see attached document). To ensure maximum efficiency, we have divided the intervention into three fundamental pillars:

1. Safety and Preparation (€25,500): Includes deep cleaning, removal of trees and mud (essential to prevent future flooding), clearing of the riverbank, and preparation of the land for new resilient plantings.
2. Accessibility and Infrastructure (€15,100): repair of the parking lot, access roads (Km 8 EN350), renovation of the support bar, and installation of solar lighting and signage.
3. Life and Well-being (€27,500): Intended for the regeneration of green areas, replacement of all street furniture (tables and benches), and repair of the leisure and sports area.

Note: If the amount raised does not reach the full target, the funds will be primarily applied to Safety and Accessibility improvements, ensuring that the park can at least reopen safely in the summer.

SCHEDULING

We foresee a rigorous action plan divided into phases, beginning immediately after the campaign ends:

• Phase 1 (end of June 2026): Shipyard installation, heavy cleaning and complete clearing of waterways and streams.
• Phase 2 (first half of July 2026): Repair of the parking lot floor, pedestrian access, and renovation of the support building. Installation of new lighting.
• Phase 3 (second half of July 2026): Installation of new furniture, leisure equipment, and final lawn regeneration and planting work.
