A book about leadership, project recovery and transformation, built on real-world experiences. Support the first edition of “Overcoming Obstacles” and become one of its first readers.

A challenging project can become the place where a leader develops their next great capability.

Superando Obstáculos (Overcoming Obstacles) was born from this conviction, shaped over more than two decades in technology and more than twelve years in project, program and digital transformation management.

The book brings together experiences from real-world projects in Brazil and Europe, including the recovery of critical initiatives, digital transformation, leadership of multidisciplinary teams, multicultural environments, stakeholder management and decision-making under pressure.

Across 24 chapters, I share stories, practical tools and lessons learned from situations in which schedules were at risk, trust had to be rebuilt, and teams needed to keep moving forward despite complexity and pressure for results.

Among these experiences is the recovery of a banking project that had gone more than two years without a significant production release, as well as technology modernization initiatives and projects involving teams distributed across different countries.

Thank you for helping turn experience into knowledge — and knowledge into impact.

Da experiência à construção de um novo caminho

About the author

I am Carlos Alexandre Marques Junior, a technology professional with more than 26 years of experience and over twelve years dedicated to project and program management and digital transformation.

Throughout my career, I have worked on projects across the banking, financial services, telecommunications, infrastructure, and technology sectors, in both Brazil and Europe. My experience includes working with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, digital transformation, the recovery of critical projects, agility, governance, and leadership.

I am also an MBA professor in Project Management and conduct studies in the areas of digital transformation and IT governance.

Superando Obstáculos (Overcoming Obstacles) was born from the desire to turn real-world experiences — including projects that began in crisis, highly complex environments, and difficult decisions — into practical knowledge for managers, technical leaders, and professionals facing similar challenges.

This project goes beyond simply publishing a book. I want to build a community of early readers and share experiences, tools, and lessons learned that can help others make better decisions when projects stop going according to plan.

Today, I live in Portugal and continue to work in international environments, combining strategic perspective with close involvement in execution.

I believe complex projects rarely need more talk. They need clarity, method, trust, and adaptability — and that is precisely the experience I have sought to bring together in this book.

O caminho da superação continua

Budget and due dates

The campaign aims to finance the final preparation, production, and promotion of the first print edition of Superando Obstáculos (Overcoming Obstacles).

The funds raised will be allocated primarily to the following areas:

• final technical preparation of files for print and digital publication;
• production of physical proofs and quality control before final printing;
• printing of the first edition;
• preparation of rewards, including the special materials included in the respective reward tiers;
• packaging and materials required for shipping the rewards;
• shipping, logistics, and distribution of copies to supporters;
• copies intended for editorial promotion, partners, and launch activities;
• communication and promotional materials and activities for the book;
• platform fees and other costs associated with running the campaign.

The funding target was set at €4,500 to ensure that these stages can be carried out to a professional standard, while covering production costs, platform fees, commitments made to supporters, and a minimum contingency for possible variations in printing, materials, and distribution costs.

For reference, the campaign is based on actual editorial production and printing quotations already obtained during the preparation of the project. The final selection of suppliers will take into account production quality, commercial conditions, deadlines, and delivery capacity, with the aim of using the funds raised as efficiently as possible.

As this is a flexible funding campaign, if the full target is not reached, the unconditional contributions received will be allocated proportionally. The first priority will be to fulfil the rewards committed to supporters, followed by the final editorial preparation and production of the first viable print run.
