Before There Is a Name — Support the publication of my book

In the Christian world, the tendency is to blame Adam and Eve for all the evil in the world. I felt the need to give them a "human voice." If it had been me, in Eve's place, would I have done things differently?

My name is Raquel Rocha and I am the author of Before There Was a Name.

I was born in Lisbon and live in Almada. I have worked in customer service and support for many years, but writing has always been a quiet passion.

I've studied the Bible since I was little—it started the moment I learned to read. Throughout my life, I've always been intrigued by the way we talk about Adam and Eve: as if they were to blame for everything that went wrong in the world. But what if we tried to understand? What if we put ourselves in their place?

It was this curiosity — and faith — that has accompanied me since childhood, within the Church of Christ, that led me to write Before There Was a Name.

This work is an intimate, human, and sensitive reflection: an attempt to feel and think like Eve.

The result of this immersion is this book.

It's just my perspective... but written with all my heart.

About the author

Quite timidly, and thinking that no one would even want to publish something of this kind, I submitted the book for consideration to the publisher Oficina da Escrita. To my surprise, the feedback was positive and included a concrete proposal for the publication of my first book.

Without ever thinking it would be possible, here I am trying to bring this project to fruition and embark on a personal adventure, which I hope will be a success.

This is my first book, and through this campaign, I seek to gather the necessary support to make the publication of the work a reality with Oficina da Escrita.

Budget and due dates

The funds raised will be used to guarantee the publication of the book "Antes de Haver Nome" (Before There Was a Name) through the publishing house Oficina da Escrita. The total budget is intended for:

Printing of the first 60 copies

Professional text revision

Page layout and graphic design

Cover design

Technical preparation for national distribution

Any funds raised above the required amount will be used to strengthen the dissemination, production of more copies, and promotion of the book.

The planned schedule for this project is as follows:

December 31, 2025:

Crowdfunding is complete and the publisher confirms the move to publish.

January – February 2026:

Editorial review, layout, and cover design by the Oficina da Escrita team.

March 2026:

Final approval of the book and start of printing of the first 60 copies.

April 2026:

Official book launch and start of reward deliveries (books, dedications, acknowledgments, etc.).

Dates may be subject to slight adjustments according to the publisher's internal calendar, but this is a realistic plan and aligned with the usual publishing process.
