Rebuilding the Churches and Parish Hall of Casal dos Bernardos

Rebuilding the ceilings of the churches in Casal dos Bernardos and Cacinheira, and the parish hall.

A solidarity initiative for a community that does not have sufficient means to rebuild the parish hall and the church (chapel) of Cacinheira.

The intention is to make every possible effort, including fundraising activities within the communities concerned, to ensure that these spaces can continue to fulfill their intended purpose.

We are asking for any kind of support to move forward with the necessary work. The community team is involved and determined to work towards achieving its goals. The storm cannot leave us indifferent.

About the author

The Economic Council of the Casal dos Bernardos parish assessed and minimally repaired the spaces – through solidarity and volunteer work – to prevent major water infiltration; however, the ceilings of the parish hall and the access doors to it were completely unusable. The ceiling of the church, training and meeting rooms, and especially the funeral home, were also severely damaged.

The aim is to restore these spaces so that the community can continue to meet.

The Cacinheira Chapel has become completely unusable (exposed to the open air) and lacks the minimum economic and financial resources to restore it.

Budget and due dates

The budgets

- Replacement of the roof, doors, and annexes of the parish hall: €200,000

- Ceiling and interior of the Cacinheira Church: Approximately €60,000

- Church and Parish House roof: €20,000
