CARP, the storm destroyed a part of the dreams of those who love the sport.

Clube Atletico Regueira de Pontes was affected by the storm on January 28, 2026, with walls, nets, lighting poles on the ground, and roofs and sides of the changing rooms destroyed.

Over the course of 25 years, this administration, which had been operating from an eleven-a-side football pitch and a small, dilapidated pavilion, has built a sports complex comprising two artificial turf pitches, a multi-sports pavilion, remodeled the old pavilion and its annexes, and constructed a bar. We have faced many difficulties, but we have not given up and have found financial solutions. Support has been very limited or nonexistent. Those who visit us are amazed by what has been accomplished and how this CARP sports complex was built. It was achieved with much sweat, tears, and patience from our colleagues.

About the author

It is a space where more than 150 children and more than 100 adults practice sports, which was affected by the storm. It includes a 7-a-side football pitch and a 5-a-side grass pitch with changing rooms and stands.

President Amilcar Henriques Gaspar has been at the helm of Clube Atletico Regueira de Pontes since 2000. He is a businessman with several companies in Portugal and Brazil, and was also president of the Regueira de Pontes parish council. He has done a great deal of work for CARP, both in his personal life and in his professional life. He has dedicated his time to CARP without seeking a new position, as has the entire board.
