The events that occurred during Storm Kristin, part of what is known as a train of storms, gave rise to multiple exceptional rescue scenarios, and in this sense, this proposal aims to address the difficulties encountered.
The events that occurred during Storm Kristin , part of what was known as the "storm train," resulted in multiple scenarios of structural instability, requiring interventions to stabilize and shore up infrastructure, trees, and large structures. The combination of strong winds, intense rainfall, and soil saturation caused significant damage to vertical and horizontal structural elements, including walls , facades, roofs, industrial structures, and old or dilapidated buildings, creating an imminent risk of partial or total collapse. These situations represented a high danger to the population and compromised the safety of operations in the area.

This project is promoted by the Condeixa-a-Nova Volunteer Firefighters Humanitarian Association , a public utility institution with a long history of service to the community, founded on April 12, 1929 and reactivated on December 1, 1977 , a date that marks the beginning of continuous and structured activity in the field of protection and rescue. Over several decades, the Association has demonstrated experience, credibility, and commitment to public service , ensuring a permanent response to emergencies, fires, accidents, pre-hospital care, and civil protection incidents, continuously serving the population of the municipality and the surrounding region.
Currently, the Fire Department consists of approximately 100 firefighters integrated into the active and command staff , possessing qualified human resources, a structured operational organization, and adequate management capacity to carry out the proposed project. The existence of teams with specific training, combined with the continuous implementation of training and technical updating actions, guarantees the correct use of the equipment to be acquired and the sustainability of the investment.
