Storm Kristin devastated the heart of our community. Atlético Clube da Sismaria needs help to rebuild its facilities, essential to over 500 people. Support us and bring life, unity, and a future back to our club!

For many years, Atlético Clube da Sismaria has been more than just a club; it's a meeting point, a space for growth, and a true heart of the community in Leiria. Here, children take their first steps in handball, young people find purpose, adults keep their passion for sport alive, and older people rediscover companionship and a sense of belonging. Between training sessions, games, theater rehearsals, and afternoons spent socializing at the bar, something bigger is built every day: a united, active, and supportive community.

But on a night marked by the force of Storm Kristin, everything changed. The facilities were severely damaged; beach handball courts, fences, gates, toilets, the bar/café, and the multipurpose hall were compromised. Spaces that welcomed families, the elderly, athletes, and cultural activities no longer offered the necessary conditions. As if that weren't enough, the club's transportation was also affected, making the replacement of a 9-seater van urgently needed to ensure that dozens of athletes, teams, the theater group, and members can continue to get where they need to go.

Today, more than 500 people, from children to seniors, depend directly on these activities. We are talking about young people and adults, all united by this space that promotes sport, culture and inclusion. Without adequate conditions, many of these activities are at risk, compromising not only the present but also the future of the entire community.

This is why this project was born: to rehabilitate what was destroyed, restore safety and dignity to the facilities, and guarantee the essential means to continue our mission. We want to have our doors open safely and with the right conditions, to create moments of joy again, strengthen bonds, and continue to make a difference in everyone's lives.

But we can't do it alone.

We need your support to rebuild, recover, and continue. Every contribution counts. Every bit of help brings us closer to revitalizing the club and bringing hope back to the community. It's not just about restoring a physical space; it's about preserving a place where stories, friendships, and opportunities are born.

Support this project. Share it. Get involved. Join us on this mission.

About the author

Atlético Clube da Sismaria is, above all, made of people. People who, over the years, have dedicated their time, energy, and heart to building much more than a club; they have created a true family. From volunteer directors to coaches, athletes, parents, and members, everyone shares the same commitment: to make this space a pillar of unity, inclusion, and development for the entire community.

With strong ties to handball, but also to culture and intergenerational interaction, the club has been responsible for positively impacting the lives of hundreds of people. Here, athletes are formed, but also citizens. Here, opportunities are created for young people to grow, adults to stay active, and the elderly to feel supported. Projects such as the community theatre group and social activities show that the club goes far beyond sports.

Even in the face of adversity, such as the damage caused by Storm Kristin, Atlético Clube da Sismaria never stopped acting. The rapid mobilization of the community and the continuous effort of its members demonstrate the resilience, organization, and ability to get things done of this entity. We know what needs to be done, we have experience on the ground, and above all, we have a clear mission: to continue serving the people.

Today, more than ever, we rely on those who believe in the value of strong communities. By supporting this project, you are not only helping an institution, you are joining a network of people who work every day to make a difference. Together, we have the experience, dedication, and will needed to rebuild and move forward.
