My name is Afonso Araújo and I am currently a student in the tuba class of professor Romeu Silva at Escola Profissional Artistíca do Alto-Minho.

I never had a personal tuba and I have been using a tuba borrowed by my band, which already shows its marks of use due to its age.

Coming from a family with no possibilities to purchase an instrument of this price, I would like you to help me make this project and dream come true. As many of you know, I have already changed countries several times and my music training processor started a little late compared to my colleagues. This made him gain experience and awareness much later. My dream is to become a great professional musician and for that I need a personal and quality instrument. The tuba model I plan to buy is ideal. It would also be (since it is a good 6/4 tuba model) a tuba that I can keep for the rest of my career so it would be a good investment at all. Currently I dedicate myself a lot and try to study many hours a day, even if I have an old instrument, because only then will I be able to proceed. I try to be careful with the instrument because at the slightest touch it can be damaged.

About the author

Afonso Araújo was born in 2005. He started his musical studies in 2015 at the Conservatory of Music in Sucy-en-Brie, in the class of professor Alain Duquenoy, in Trompete. He resumed his studies in tuba in 2018 at the Music School of Banda de Antas, in the class of professor Daniel Afonso and, later, in 2019, at the Professional Artistic School of Alto Minho in the class of professor Juan Carlos Díaz. Throughout his career, he integrated the Banda de Antas wind orchestra and the music band itself. He worked with maestros Henrique Torres, Juan Carlos Díaz, Diogo Costa and César Lima and accompanied the soloist José Manuel Lopes. Currently, he is part of the class of Professor Juan Carlos Díaz and is a member of the ARTEAM Wind Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Juan Carlos Díaz.

Budget and due dates

Usually, a new tuba and this type of model can cost a lot of money (20 000 euros or more). In this case the instrument will be bought used, and the tuba is only a few years old and in very good condition.

• PPL commissions: 784.13 euros
• The rest is up to me

I would like to have this tuba as soon as possible to start using it in orchestra and in my day-to-day life.
