The genesis of Bodyboard and its History, in the World and in particular in Portugal, reported by one of its original pioneers, accompanied by exclusive texts and images.
The Covid-19 pandemic caught us all off guard and threw a good part of the population home to telework. With the National Emergency State Decree, the idea of designing a book entirely dedicated to bodyboarding, which for many years was just that, a simple idea, gained body and form in my head. It gained a soul . I now hope to be able to gather the necessary support for its launch and thus make it accessible to a good part of the sport lovers.
The structure of triBBo book - with two capital B's highlighted, because as long as I can remember they serve to abbreviate the word BodyBoard -; it relies largely on the genesis of sport, but also on its history, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021. The pioneers, competitions, the fun side of bodyboarding and all the versatility of this "little board that changed the world" , which came to simplify and democratize a simple trip to the sea, were also not neglected.

Among the several key texts that appear in this work, a special mention to the one by Mike Stewart, 9x world champion and one of the most striking faces of the sport, who was in charge of the epilogue. Joana Schenker, world champion in 2017, considered one of the most influential in Portugal, also accepted the invitation to write a text.
The image, which is always so important for the final result of a project with such sui generis characteristics, was in charge of the pioneers of the sport, but also of two renowned Portuguese photographers who have long maintained a strong connection with bodyboarding - Miguel Nunes and Hélio António. I assure you, the visual part is not only enchanting but also deeply immersive, revealing intense moments and others that are absolutely remarkable.
For all these reasons, it makes perfect sense to tell the History of Bodyboard, in Portugal and in the World. And yes, it makes perfect sense to do it in a single, independent, hardcover book, composed of 192 pages in 25x20cm format, matte coated paper of 150g where the pictures breathe, come to life and help to make the connection between the past and the present. More than that, they are a glimpse of the future.
In addition to personal satisfaction, perpetuating the history of bodyboarding is my main goal with the launch of triBBo. A work that will only see the light of day when the order for 267 books is reached. This is where your contribution makes all the difference!
In the set of options, it is worth noting that with just € 5 you can simply support the cause, with € 30 you secure your copy of the book signed by me and with € 36 you will receive it in the comfort of home. Remember, this is a collector's edition, an unforgettable and memorable gift for any self-respecting bodyboarder.
