Documentary focused on an ancient tradition in the north region of Laúndos, Póvoa de Varzim.
The great event of A QUEIMADA rises from the ashes through the testimonies of those who lived it up close.
Among the memories of the past is the mystery of the disappearance of its last organizer and, with it, the spark of a new hope - his grandson. Where is the heritage of this tradition and what can it bring to the future?

The minds behind this documentary are young people Pedro Pimentel and Rosana Soares who (re) discovered this story in small nostalgic conversations about their native lands.
Rosana is a director and screenwriter, born in South Africa. In recent years she has participated in numerous audiovisual projects, highlighting “ Sometimes I am a person, sometimes I am a dinosaur” winner of the Best Portuguese Film Award at MIFEC 2019, and his realization debut. Since then, he produced the short film “Cringe” (2019) by Dinis Leal Machado.
Pedro participated in more than 40 workshops, masterclasses and lectures. Mostly, he works in the field as an assistant director and / or chief electrician in cinema, video clips and advertising projects. Queimada is his most recent project as a director.

Originally planned for the final project of the Master's Degree in Audiovisual Communication at the Superior School of Media Arts and Design , the duo of directors shared this little secret of Laúndos with classmates, friends and family. The result was a team of dedicated and professional people, and above all - people passionate about the small 'Portugalities' that still exist.

Budget and due dates
Regardless of the genre or type of film, financial support is a crucial part of making it safe and with the minimum conditions guaranteed.

This project was planned to be finished on March 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the interruption of filming as well as a cut in funding.
Fortunately, more than 1 year later, it was possible to gather the necessary conditions to resume filming this tradition in northern Portugal.
As filmagens estão planeadas para maio e junho de 2021.

Apesar de andarmos mais silenciosos, temos estado a trabalhar arduamente para que todo este esforço coletivo resulte no belo filme que todos queremos que aconteça.
Apesar de maior parte já estar filmada, por questões de disponibilidade da equipa técnica e dos entrevistados em questão, a restante filmagem está agendada para fevereiro de 2022. Daí seguir-se-á a pós-produção, onde todos estes pedacinhos que temos recolhido vão desvendar a história escondida d’ A Queimada.
