Themed event on the Drawing Culture held at Forte da Graça (Elvas) during an intense week of workshops and master classes with renowned artists and surrounded by numerous exhibitions of drawing.
Having its genesis on a first national meeting of Urban Sketching, quickly flow the whole drawing culture and for a festival of international nature. Traço has been growing, increasing the quality and number of visitors (2016 Edition with more than 7,000 visitors). This growth meant the change of designation from Elvas Drawing Festival to Alentejo Drawing Festival. This edition will take place in October in Elvas and Castelo de Vide (Portugal).
Traço intends to show the Drawing as a Cultural form of expression that has numerous artistic and functional skills. It is (or it should be) always there day-by-day through the vision (since the publicity to architecture, going through each object that flashes by hands). It is a powerful tool of analysis in the growing attention of looking and to improve visual memory: View by drawing ... notice what surrounds us.
The experience of previous event proved to be very successful at the level of workshops with young people and students, complemented the formation in this curriculum area (particularly in the disciplines of Plastic Expression, Visual Education of first, second and third classes), helping to fulfill free class hours in this area's school curriculum.
By this wayTraço combines:
- Design (exhibition of 3 renowned designers from different generations. Co-operation with MUDE);
- Comics (exhibitions from different authors, in which one of the coordinators of this project, João Sequeira, is national prize of Amadora Comics Festival with several published books in Portugal and in other European countries);
- Architecture (symposia: in Elvas a show/debate on several projects in the historic center and in Castelo de Vide about drawing and urban requalification, with the first presentation of a book by architect Luís Pedro Cruz);
- Animated movies (national and Spanish short movies and exhibition of work drawings regarding the creative processes);
- Urban Sketching - the informal Drawing for all in graphic notebooks.
Traço will be attended by several important and quality drawers in various areas.
