Chelonia, a 16-year-old girl from Syria, leaves her country to flee from the horrors of war but ends up being captured by a human trafficking network. Will she ever manage to escape and truly be free?
Tartus was born in an academic context and has evolved, day after day, becoming more and more of a collective project. Tartus doesn't belong to a director or a producer - it belongs to everyone. You can be a part of it, too.
Tartus' budget is, due to its academic nature, very low; this lead us to create a crowdfunding campaign as a way to spread the word and put together some extra funding. Any and all funds will go exclusively towards the film's production.
Help Tartus become an on-screen reality!

About the author
The crew is entirely composed of film students from Universidade Lusófona, in Lisbon. Most of us are final-year students of the Cinema and Media Arts Undergraduate Course.
As a group of highly motivated students, we are determined to see this project through to the very end - not only as a means of acquiring new knowledge, but also as a means to stand up against the dire problems we face in the world around us (which are oftentimes forgotten by a shocking majority of the population). In our final project - now as an experienced team - we will do everything within our reach to bring Tartus to the big screen; all we need is a little help from you!
A student film is more than a simple exercise for University - it's emotional and professional weight is great, and any one of the crew members will fight until their last breath to ensure Tartus reaches the level of excellence we aim for.

Budget and due dates
Shooting will take place during the last days of April 2017, meaning that the funds raised during this campaign will be mostly directed towards expenses involving extras, transportation and on-set catering, as well as for promoting the film once it is complete.
This project has some minor funding from ICA (Cinema and Audiovisual Institute), but due to it being a "student film", it really is very *minor* funding. This is why we must expand our search for funds as a means to make this dream a reality.
