Sfourzzarco Ensemble - Help Us Taking Off!

The young string quartet Sfourzzarco Ensemble needs your help to attend the 4th Hong Kong International Music Festival and believes in this opportunity to boost his career.

The idea is to get funding to cover part of the costs of attending the 4th Hong Kong International Music Festival. The Sfourzzarco Ensemble has been invited to participate in the final stage of the competition for musical groups associated with this festival. The invitation came through the Maestro, Professor Eliseu Silva, who has been participating in this Festival since its first edition as a member of the jury of the competition and teaching Masterclasses of violin. The organization of the Festival offers the members of the Sfourzzarco Ensemble the inscription and part of the accommodation costs. For us, as young musicians (14 to 16 years old), participation in this competition and in the Festival would be a very interesting, thrilling and enriching challenge, as musicians of course but also personally. We are working hard to get the money we need, and we already did a first trial street show where we were very kindly applauded and tipped! During the summer holidays, we plan regular street performances that, apart from the training, the exciting contact with the public and urban animation, may translate into an important funding contribution. However, travel cost for the four of us and for the instruments, for the passports and visas, remains rather high!

About the author

We are a string quartet, founded in October 2016, the Sfourzzarco Ensemble formed by Rodrigo Pinto - 14 years old (violin I), Francisca Gama - 14 years old (violin II), Djonathan Silva - 15 years old (viola) and Marco Pereira - 16 Years (cello). In addition to basic or secondary education, we are taking a music lessons as an extracurricular activity at the Silva Monteiro Music Course (CMSM) in Oporto. We are members of the Bonjóia Youth Orchestra - resulting from the Music for All project, supported by the Porto City Council.

Under the guidance of our teacher Eliseu Silva, in the CMSM, we intend to create and transmit a young and dynamic identity, not giving up the training and requirement of the classical technique. Our main goal is the development of our musical abilities, both playing in group and individually. We already had several performances, including our debut on November 16, 2016 at the "Classic Meets Africa @ Porto Africano" event at the Almeida Garrett Library in the Crystal Palace, on April 18, 2017 in the reception of the President of the Xunta de Galicia In the City Hall of Porto and on May 27 the participation in the concert "Tango meets Fado", in the Municipal Auditorium of Gondomar.

In terms of training, the group participated in the Masterclass with Professor Edmundo Pires on April 5, 2017 at the Silva Monteiro Music Course.

Budget and due dates

The amount we ask for (1.800€) is not enough to cover the costs of this trip, but it will be a great help. Only air travel and associated costs (passports and visas) will cost around 3.500€.
From 1.800€  we deduct 154,98€  from PPL commissions.
