Making the leap to Poland: European Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships 2017

We qualified 7 athletes for the European Acrobatic Gymnastics Championship to be held in October in Poland. To represent Portugal, we need to raise € 16,000. Help us make the leap to Poland!

S.E.A. Acrobatic Gymnastic Class has been consistent in results since its incorporation in 2012: it adds titles in National and District Championships, medals in Tournaments of reference, case of MIAC - MAIA INTERNATIONAL ACRO CUP or OPEN of GRANADA, evidencing also in international competitions, namely World Championships (4th place for Par Beatriz Ferreira / Catarina Martins in Putian, China, 2016) and Europe (and triple Bronze in Riesa, Germany, 2015).

As in 2015, with the participation of SEA's junior female pair, Catarina Martins and Beatriz Ferreira, in the European Championship in Riesa (Germany), which resulted in three bronze medals, this year we qualified seven of our athletes for the European Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships, five of which - a female trio and a male pair - will participate in the 9th Age Group Competitions in Acrobatic Gymnastics and the senior mixed pair in the XXVIII European Championships In Acrobatic Gymnastics, from 13th to October 22, in Rzeszów, Poland.

Representing Portugal in the European Championships with a team of 9 elements (7 gymnasts + 2 Coaches) implies assuming costs of travel, accommodation, food, equipment and licenses in the amount of € 16,000. Our goal is to raise 1/3 of this value in the PPL platform - € 5,500; complementarily, we are extending our appeal to the National Business and Commerce Sector of the region in order to ensure the remaining 2/3 of the value. We think it will be a difficult mission but not impossible.

About the author

The Sociedade Euterpe Alhandrense (S.E.A.) is an association with 154 years of existence, located in Alhandra, Vila Franca de Xira (Lisbon area). In 2012 we welcomed the Acrobatic Gymnastics modality in order to complement our offer to around 1,500 children and young people who chose us to develop their cultural or sports training. We have about 120 athletes in the Acrobatic Gymnastics Competition class and close to a hundred children and youngsters in the Training classes (Acrobatics and Trampolines). On September 10, the SEA Senior Mixed Pair, Bruno Tavares and Beatriz Ferreira, was ranked 3rd in the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup in Lisbon, having climbed to the podium to receive the bronze medal, in which his official debut as a pair in international competitions. Finding 7 athletes and representing once again Portugal in a European Championship is for us a source of pride and the confirmation that we are on the right path.

Budget and due dates

The SEA delegation, which will be part of the national representation in the European Acrobatic Gymnastics Championship, to be held in Poland in October, consists of 9 members - seven gymnasts and two coaches. The total cost of this participation is around € 16,000:
