Quinta Alma is totally off grid and so we locally harvest our water and electricity. Water is the most valuable element and the drought is frightening. Properly and efficiently capturing, maintaining and circulating water is our biggest challenge. And we need your help to solve it!
We believe that Nature is the best source of relaxation, introspection and inspiration. Therefore, we have created a space of highly differentiated wild Nature, outside the routine and in deep connection with Nature. Quinta Alma is an ecological tourism site with 45 hectares of forest and animals, where people can disconnect from urban reality, from stress, and reconnect with their most intimate and creative essence.
The shelters at Quinta Alma are simple but very comfortable and glamorous Safari Tents. They are the best way to blend with Nature.
The bathrooms are ecological and dry. We do not use water and the compost is later used as fertilizer in the vegetable gardens. The water in the showers is solar heated and the grey waters are decomposed in an environmentally friendly septic tank.

At Quinta Alma, everything is designed and implemented based on the principles and practices of permaculture, so that visitors and guests are in contact with the 4 elements of nature in a natural and harmonious way.
Quinta Alma is located on the wild Portuguese Costa Vicentina, at the foot of Serra De Monchique, 5 km from the center of Aljezur and next to some of the most amazing beaches in Europe.
The Challenge
To overcome the lack of water problem, we will recover the farm's old large lake that lays in a valley between two beautiful slopes. This lake will feed the mines and springs of water downstream, while boosting local biodiversity. It will also be a reservoir for irrigation and to fight any wildfires in the area. The lake will also be a point of contact with Nature. Here people can bathe, refresh and enjoy the amazing sensation of being with water in its natural state.

How can you help?
Building the lake will cost 15.000 € and we need half of this amount.
You can help spreading the word and contribute financially to reach € 7,500 + campaign costs. In exchange, we will be happy to reward you with discounts on accommodation and exclusive offers of gastronomic products made with two of the most iconographic ingredients of Aljezur, that you can find in Quinta Alma: Sweet Potato and Madrone (strawberry tree fruit).
