This project acts as a fundraise so that international athlete and national fencing champion Álvaro Noite, can fulfill his Olympic Qualification project Rio 2016.  The project has the duration of 4 years, and consists in the completion of the fencing world circuit, preparation events and qualification to the Olympic Games. Due to the financial woes that the country is currently withstanding, the government funds are insufficient for what this project requires. The athlete’s resume speaks for itself, and has all the physical and technical skills and abilities that the sport demands, lacking the vital financial and economic aspect in order to carry out the project. In conclusion, if all conditions are met, we may have in our hands another Portuguese athlete representing his country and making them proud, in the most important and prestigious sporting event, the Olympics.

Let us all contribute and lead Álvaro Noite the Olympic Games in Rio 2016!

About the author

Team Members : Athlete- Álvaro Noite

Álvaro José Caldeira Noite, born February 22, 1990 in São Jorge, (Autonomous Region of Madeira). He started in Fencing at the age of 8 where he practiced at Sala de Armas at Clube Desportivo e Recreativo Santanense, having since an early age reached success, winning the National Championship in all age groups.  At 15 he moved to the capital of Madeira Island, where he started representing Clube Futebol União, and at 16 reached 11th at the Cadets World Championship at Belek.  In 2007 he enrolled at the Faculty of Sports of Oporto University, where he could attend the North High-Performance Facility.

Currently he is a Sports Graduate by Oporto University, and teaches Fencing at Colégio Luso Internacional do Porto and is attending his second year Master’s degree in Sports Management. He is also the Absolute National Champion, and is working hard to become one of the best Fencers in the world stage, having as primary goal the qualification to the 2016 Olympic Games.

Coach - Filipe Melo

Graduated at the Sports Faculty of Oporto University in Physical Education in 1999, and has been a teacher for 14 years. He was part of the fencing national team in foil, winning several national championships, the last of which by teams in 2004.He is responsible for the Fencing section at Sport Club do Porto, which has several national championships either individually, or by teams.

Budget and due dates

Orçamento Total (anual) - 15.000 € Objectivo - 1.500 € - 45 Dias - Apesar do prazo reduzido, contamos divulgar o suficiente para alcançar o objectivo, será difícil alongar muito mais o prazo tendo em conta o calendário desportivo para a época 2012/2013. Competições Internacionais -12. 830 (10 competições) Material de Esgrima - 475 € Estágios - 1.695€ Discriminação de valores na Imagem e no Vídeo. Conto realizar 10 competições até ao fim de Agosto. O montante total do projecto é de 15 000 euros, mas o objectivo mínimo é conseguir garantir uma participação mínima em 3 competições de baixo custo no valor de 3 000 €, e consideramos que seria mais realista e possível de alcançar este valor através do crowdfunding. Contámos contudo continuar a procurar através de patrocínios o restante valor de forma a poder concretizar o projecto no seu todo.
