Be part of the production of the "PORTUGUESE TRIOS ANTHOLOGY PROJECT" and help the Pangea Trio with the funding for the recording of volume 2.
Since the very beginning, one of the objectives of the Pangea trio was the commitment to the interpretation and diffusion of Portuguese composers.
In today’s global world, it is, more than ever, important to dig in the richness of this country’s music, unknown in most of the world, even among musicians. Our belief is that this repertoire has been forgotten for too many years and it deserves now our full attention and dedication. All efforts should be done to place the Portuguese music at the core of the music world.
To accomplish this mission, we designed a rather ambitious project: Portuguese Piano Trios, The Anthology Collection, recording of an anthology dedicated to Portuguese Trios for violin, cello and piano. For the achievement of the previous mentioned goals, the partnership with NAXOS is essential as this prestigious label has a worldwide support for distribution through different kinds of mediums.
The Pangea trio is the producer of all recordings from the anthology. In other words, all expenses related with the realization of a recording mastering (studio rental for the recording, sound engineer services and recording material rental, recording assembly and sound mastering hours) are supported by the Pangea trio, as well as the expenses made with the commission of a new trio to a contemporary for each volume of the anthology.
Our proposal is to be divided into four original CD, each one containing three trios, serving as showcase for a comprehensive look into the different aesthetical paths from the past and present. Romantic heritage treasures, modernist symbols, forgotten pieces and creative works will dialogue in each CD, representing the contrasting differences together with diverse similarities from the unique voices of Portuguese musical identity. One new work per CD is the result of our engagement to the future of Portuguese music. The above mentioned composers dedicated his works to the Pangea trio or created them as a result of a commission.
The first volume is dedicated to Luiz Costa, Cláudio Carneyro and Sérgio Azevedo's trios: contrasting with each other, we start the journey with the romantic inspired music tinged with impressionist tones of Costa, followed by modernist folk tones of Carneyro, finishing with Avevedo's original fusion of music from the past with new ideas.
For the next volumes of the anthology, it is expected the recording of trios from composers such as Luiz de Freitas Branco, Joly Braga Santos, Alexandre Delgado, José Vianna da Motta, Armando José Fernandes, Luís Tinoco, Carlos Marecos, Maria de Lurdes Martins, António Fragoso and Berta Alves de Sousa.
