On my way to GC 2018!

This campaign aims to raise funds to support my participation as a co-presenter in a Session “What kind of Peacemaker am I?” at CISV Global Conference 2018. * the basic shipping costs are included (EU). ** video: CISV São Paulo

CISV is a NGO that works towards peace through education at a non formal level. We are volunteered based and we are acting in more than 70 countries around the world.

Every three years we gather at an international meeting called Global Conference, which aims to inspire our volunteers through educational sessions that would include different content and topics in order to cover the various areas of our work, impacting in our actions and also in our organization goals, locally and globally.

I had submitted a session called “What kind of peacemaker am I?” along with my colleague Tiago Basto but only one of us has the costs covered by the organization. So we aim to raise funds in order to support my way to Global Conference as well. It includes accommodation (full meals), registration and travel costs.

It would be amazing to take part in the GC 2018 as last Conference was really rewarding at a personal and professional level.

About the author

My name is Esperança Peixoto, I’m Brazilian and I’m finishing my doctorate in Education Sciences - Teachers Training at Coimbra University, Portugal. The theme of my thesis is teachers perception around Peace Education topics and self evaluation of their competences involving Peace Education and Global Citizenship.

I’ve been a CISV volunteer for 15 years and had different roles in the organization, from being a camp leader or staff to local and national board as a Director. Nowadays I’m part of the Training and Quality Assurance Team in Americas Region as a “Training the Trainers” certified trainer.

I’m very enthusiastic when it turns to teaching and I’m very passionate for Peace Education, which includes volunteering for CISV, that inspired me a lot!!

Budget and due dates

Global Conference: 14 - 19/08/2018

Registration (accommodation + participation): 690€

Travel Costs (flights, shuttles): 510€

Travelling from Coimbra, Portugal to Global Conference venue, near Amsterdam.

I’m asking for a little more than a half of total cost as I’m willing to put money myself.
