Once upon a time, there was... a team, an idea, a movie! Onism is a short film still in the making, made for academic purposes. More than a movie, Onism is a journey of self discovery. Join us on this fantastic and exciting journey!
Once upon a time there was a little girl who visited her favorite store, in it, she found an entrance to another world. Reality gets further and further away and at the end of this journey we're brought back to reality. But do we really get back?
Starting at a candy and toy store, ending in the green lawn of a summer camp, Onism is about the mind-boggling journey of growth and self-discovery. We all remember a happy childhood, especially the summer vacation. However, several situations marked our childhood, directly or indirectly: the loss of a pet, of a relative, the divorce of parents, or even the realization that there is no old bearded man that lives in the cold, who is head of an elf factory, and that one night a year (which coincidentally is on Christmas) he drives his sleigh with flying reindeer to distribute gifts to children all around the world. Situations like these may not prompt us to raise questions right away, but somewhere in our growth, we will find obstacles because of this. What we feel somehow unfolds, making us go to the chest of our memory, as we infer that the problem was already there, we were just too naive to realize. In an experimental strand, we'll explore the traumas left from a seemingly happy childhood, felt later in adolescence and into adult life. From the exit of the nest to the relationship with the self, Onism is the journey we all make.
