Alfredo Keil was a famous painter and musician (he composed the Portuguese national anthem). Unfortunately, little is known about his piano works. This CD will offer the possibility to discover two important cycles for piano: Impressions poétiques and Douze mélodies.
This CD reveals an intimate and romantic composer, yet an artist searching for a portuguese colour in his own voice. Delicate and emotional, his music evokes his gentle and humorous spirit.
The CD was recorded in an outstanding and rare Grotrian-Steinweg (similiar to Clara Schumann's own piano) by Tomohiro Hatta, a young and virtuoso japanese pianist who lives in Paris.
