Kova M Festival is a cultural initiative that promotes dynamics of social and community development within Alto Cova da Moura community and surroundings, thus fighting the stigma that is ravaging the neighborhood. It also develops and promotes the neighborhood’s cultural and human heritage, as well as its rich ethnic mix, hence contributing to the integration into the community where it belongs
Culture has always been a factor of social and economic development, as well as of integration and identity affirmation - a bridge that connects different generations and different backgrounds.
Kova M Festival is a cultural initiative that promotes dynamics of social and community development within Alto Cova da Moura community and surroundings, thus fighting the stigma that is ravaging the neighborhood. It also develops and promotes the neighborhood’s cultural and human heritage, as well as its rich ethnic mix, hence contributing to the integration into the community where it belongs
Through its three previous editions (2012, 2013 and 2014), the Festival won a particular space in Amadora city’s cultural calendar. 4187 Facebook friends currently follow it; and about 8000 people were directly or indirectly mobilized for its latest editions.
The festival will take place between July 21st and 25th (Tuesday-Saturday) and will include the following activities:

• Kizomba Workshop
• Kola San Jon Workshop
• Open space film screening
• Batuque Finka Pé Workshop
• Photography exhibit
• Theater of the Oppressed (DRK)
• Tournaments (soccer, basketball)
• Judo performance
• Debate: Racism / "police violence"
• Open sessions on entrepreneurship
• Gastronomic fair
• Children’s Space
• Graffiti Workshop
• Flash mob
• Jam sessions
• Live music concerts
• Traditional African dances, breakdance, and kuduro presentations
As with previous editions, this fourth edition aims to encourage in the neighborhood's and nearby locations’ inhabitants an assertive attitudinal change through music, dance, performing arts, thematic debates and sports, as a way to build the youth of tomorrow, enabling them to meet the challenges of today.
