GASTagus is a Portuguese non-governmental development organization (NGO), with the aim of empowering young people for active citizenship through the promotion of national and international volunteer work in the areas of education, vocational training, health, entrepreneurship, among others .

In addition, GASTagus partners are present in Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe , with teams of volunteers that contribute to the development of these communities.
For each partner /country, 5 volunteers, mostly university students and recent graduates, are assigned, in order to complement the work already developed by the our partners throughout the year.
These projects are an important milestone in the life of partners / volunteers, based on cultural exchange, community life and the spirit of mutual help. The objective of our mission is to create social impact in the several areas of support: Education support, Health Support, Vocational Support, Participation and Active Citizenship.
The goal of this campaign is to raise the necessary funds to finance the flight and stay of one of our volunteers, in order to continue our projects in any of the destinations where Gastagus operates (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique And São Tomé and Príncipe).
About the author
(GASTagus) is a non-profit youth NGO with its headquarters at the Technical Higher Institute on the Taguspark campus, which develops projects in the area of education and development cooperation. This group started its activities in 2008, founded in partnership with LAGE2 at IST Taguspark. This is divided into several poles in the Greater Lisbon area, and Group A is associated with the group of young people who receive training at the University Institute of Psychological, Social and Life Sciences (ISPA).
The mission of GASTagus is to alert, to encourage the youth to discover and promote the dignity of the human person through the realization of national (Portugal) and international (Africa and Brazil) voluntary activities.
Throughout the year, the volunteers receive intensive training and volunteer at different institutions in Lisbon, with whom they maintain partnerships, which is called walking.
This journey is important in preparing volunteers for an international volunteer experience, called a mission. Since the founding of the group in 2008, more than 400 volunteers have been sent on mission.
Budget and due dates

The funds raised are exclusively to cover the travel and stay of the volunteers, so as not to create burdens for the partners. To start an international volunteer mission for one month, € 1,150 is required for each volunteer:
- 800 € → airplane ticket
- 15 € → insurance
- 150 € → expenses associated with the stay, transport and food
- 50 € → visa
- 35 € → health expenses (vaccinations)
- 100€ → infrastructure costs (human resources, etc.)
PPL Commission: 5% + VAT = € 57.5 + € 13.3 = 71
Management fee: 2% + VAT = € 23 + € 5.29 = € 28.30
Total commissions: € 99.1 approx.
Reward Costs: Material + Shipping costs = 100 € approx.
