After nearly 9 years since the first edition, FISP - Internation Festival of Saxophone in Palmela , continues to assert itself as a unique initiative in artistic and pedagogical landscape in Portugal.

After nearly 9 years since the first edition, FISP - Internation Festival of Saxophone in Palmela , continues to assert itself as a unique initiative in artistic and pedagogical landscape in Portugal and across borders, a landmark for saxophone lovers and music Offering very intense and varied cultural program: about 20 concerts and shows (free entry), Masterclasses, Workshops, Seminars, Conferences, International Saxophone Competition "Vitor Santos".

FISP is assumed as a cultural project of public service, thereby contributing to raising the artistic and pedagogical level of our country, helping to train more and better listeners, through sharing of experiences and knowledge among some of the most prestigious names in the national and international saxophone, teachers, students and the public.

The educational level has also left an important mark in teaching Saxophone in Portugal, some of those participating in masterclasses and winners of the International Competition for Saxophone "Vitor Santos" claim themselves today as pioneers of a new generation of saxophone in Portugal, taking a noticeable place artistically and pedagogically.

About the author

Funded in the 8th of October of 1864, the “Sociedade Filarmónica Humanitaria” is one of the biggest references on the Cultural and Social life of the Setubal district.

Located in the village of Palmela center, is an important stage performances and music dissemination since the nineteenth century, developing cultural activities such as music, theater and dance. Founded by a group of musicians, always had music as its main activity, providing education and favoring the same to all those who wished. As recognition for his work through the ages, the Company was awarded an honorary member of the "Order of benevolence" and in February 24, 1993, was declared of public utility.

With some excellent facilities, the Philharmonic Society Humanitarian continues to promote musical and cultural activities, to encourage a love for music, particularly through its Music Band, the Regional Conservatory of Palmela, Humanitarian Jazz Orchestra, Scenic Group, School of Ballet School of Dance “Sevillanas” and numerous activities that promote, as FISP - the International Festival of Saxophone in Palmela, Festival "Abril Jazz Mil", Piano Competition "Olga Prats", among many others.
