EDAK Dance Team goes to the Dance Awards USA

27 students from Ana Kohler's Dance Studio in Lisbon, are going to represent Portugal in the biggest dance event in the United States of America, The Dance Awards.

The Dance Awards is the biggest dance event in the USA. Going to the finals of this contest is the dream of many children and teenagers. Only the best are selected to the finals, after participating through all the annual competions.

A group of 27 students from Ana Kohler's Dance Studio in Lisbon/Portugal, is going to compete in five different styles: classical dance, contemporary dance, jazz dance, lyrical and hip hop. They are excepcional children, that beyond their normal school life, have a heavy dance schedule of classes and preparation for a high competition level.

They learn from early age to manage their studies with the hours in the dance studio and their family life. This participation in the Dance Awards and it's preparation, is part of a whole experience, preparing them for their adult life in several aspects: focus in a goal, going against all odds, understand the group depends on each one of them, to go beyond their capacities and learn that the sky is the limit to reach our dreams.

About the author

Ana Kohler's Dance Studio, was founded in 2005 and has a classical dance base to all the other styles of dance with a high demanding level. Student's can take regular classes, one or twice a week or can follow a artistic educational program of 9 to 12 hours a week of dance classes.

Most of the children participating in the Dance Awards follow the artistic educational program, following dance classes almost every day, 6 days a week.

In 2015 was the first participation, with 8 students in 2 dance styles, obtaining excelent results.

Consequence of the work in the last 2 years, we are now ready to take another group and believe we are going to obtain the same level of results.

Budget and due dates

This campaign goal is to raise the value of inscription in the competition:

Inscription per student: 110€ x 27 students: 2970€

5%+IVA (PPL Comission)

2%+IVA(cost with the payments)

Other costs:

• Workshop in the Dance Awards: 360€ per student
• Travel, hotel and stay 10 days in Las Vegas - 1990€ per student
• Meals during 10 days: 250€ per student

Beyond this campaign, students are raising funds with raffles and the 22 of April, we are doing a Fund Raising performance in a Theater in Lisbon. With this campaign we hope to raise as much as possible to reduce the costs for each family in a way we are able to start to work and dream of the next.
