With this initiative the MeteoCovilhã want to count on the support of all your followers and friends together to angariarmos two detectors of electric shock to be placed one in the city of Covilha and another at the highest point in mainland Portugal more properly Tower to 1993 meters altitude.
With this new equipment we can provide a better public service at the level of extreme events and detecting electrical discharges while being part of an international group that are taking the first steps on the Iberian Peninsula. In Portugal we would have the detector installed at the highest point of the country.
The Blitzortung is a network of lightning detection for the location of electromagnetic discharges in the atmosphere (lightning) based on time of arrival (TOA) and time of arrival method group (TOGA).
