Our goal is to control humanly and effectivelly the reproduction of animals on the streets.

With 500€ we can sterilize 10 female dogs that are abandoned in Tavira, through a vet that wants to support the 3AT association.

Our goal is to control humanly and effectivelly the reproduction of animals on the streets.

This way we avoid  the birth of more puppies to a life of suffering, abandonment and death. doing this we can also improve de public health conditions of the community, reducing accidents caused by over population of abandoned animals, as well as public expenses  concerning the attempts of their control

Why do we want to sterilize?

To end the multiplication of abandoned animals, abuses and death of so many animals.

Why so many? Because for each child born 15 puppies and 45 kittens.

The main cause of cats and dogs death is euthanasia

About the author

Directed to abandoned street animals, the 3AT offers shelter treatment, protection and food to animal rejected by this cold society where we live.

As was said above, the vet that will sterilize the female dogs will only charge 50€ each, which is a simbolic price taking into account the exorbitant prices applied in the market.

In Portugal are extimate 100.000 animal euthanized in municipal kennels every year.

This measurement adopted by the municipes is clearly uneffective just for one reason: a female dog and her puppies can breed 73.000 puppies and a female cat 240.000 in 6 years.

To reduce this superpopulation of cats and dogs, the most humanitarian and effective measure is anticonception programs, such as free or at low cost sterilization.

It  has been largely introduced in other countries with huge sucess.

Meanwhile in Portugal that is rare, even thoughthere is, since 2003, a law holding responsible the local authorities implanting birth control for animals.

Sterilized animals have more life quality and higher bounds with their owners.

The longevity of a male sterilized animal is 24% higher and 36% male felines, on female dogs is about 20% and on female felines 40%

It is not only good for your pey but also diminishes the unnecessary euthanasia of thousands of cats and dogs just for being considered being that have no use.

This will save, every year, thousands of euros from the public funds, and reduce drastically the cases of abandonment, neglect and abuse of so many innocent animals.
