Mangualde Gymnastics Class

20 gymnasts are representative of class Group of Schools Viseu and want to go to Sweden to participate in the 9th Eurogym 2014.

Rodrigo, Telma, Mara, Filipa, Francisca, Diana, Débora, Carolina, Cláudias, Catarina, Patrícia, Rosa, Ana Rita, João, Urânia, Ana Maria, Inês, Joana and Carina have a dream. Going  to 9th Eurogym and integrate the portuguese delegation, representing Mangualde in Helsingborg city, in Sweden, between 13^th and 18^th of july of 2014.

The Eurogym is an European gymnastic festival for young people, from the age of 12, and take place every 2 years. It’s an event organized by the European Union of Gymnastic in partnership with a National Federation. For the Eurogym 2014 the portuguese delegation counts with 605 participants in representation of 13 clubs.

They are 20 young gymnasts (18 girls and 2 boys) with ages between 12 and 21 years that make part  of the representative class of Agrupamento de Escolas de Mangualde. They train 3 times a week about 1h30mn per train.

The Agrupamento de Escolas de Mangualde, in Mangualde city, located in the district of Viseu, is a public school created in 2010 with the junction of 2 groups of schools and a high school.

With your participation, these gymnasts intend to raise their country’s name.

Considering that the class has no financial support, existing some gymnasts with a precarious financial situation, just with the generosity of friends and family it will be possible to make this dream come true.

In last 10 years the group always went to the podium either in Group Gymnastics, or in Acrobatic Gymnastics or also in Artistic Gymnastics. The latest results of this group were:

About the author

Paula Cunha - Licensed in Physical Education, teacher in a basic school and being in charge of the gymnastic group of the Agrupamento de Escolas de Mangualde, for 20 years.

She started with a group with only 20 students but since 2012 she remains with 4 groups: the representative class, and 3 of initiation groups (since nursery to high school) and, in the last years she has been working with about 80 gymnasts per year.

During this time the gymnasts participated in School Sport Competitions of Gymnastic: Group Gymnastics, Acrobatic Gymnastics and Artistic Gymnastics, and there were various the representations in Regional e National level as well as participations in soirees and gatherings.

In 2009 the Agrupamento de Escolas de Mangualde participated in federated competitions  (Gymnastics For All) constituting themselves as a club. So, in federated level the representative class participated on the events: Gym For Life and Portugal Gym, 3 times and once in the Eurogym, in Portugal, being part of open ceremony.
