50 Cuts Associação Cinematográfica launches this campaign to raise funds, aiming to make an original horror short film, guided by quality, thus contributing to the expansion and diffusion of this genre in Portugal.
An epidemic of fungal origin collapsed in Lisbon. On the radio is announced that the fungus parasite turns people into zombies, changing the neurological system of the hosts. This fungus emanated from the forests - where it parasitized insects - and invaded the cities, where it found a new host: the human. Citizens are locked in their homes, forced to quarantine.
This epidemic, which spreads out, came to catch Bruno and Sandra in a critical phase of the couple. A couple who are dragging themselves in a sickly, claustrophobic, decomposing relationship for many years, but now faces a new crisis: an external threat brought on by a new strain of a parasitic fungus. This new strain is called Cordyceps calipsum.
With this short film we aim to improve the current panorama of the genre suspense / terror, pleasing the lovers of this kind of cinema, but not only: we want to reach all kinds of audiences. We intend to take this film to the best national and international film festivals, but for this we need your contribution. More than the small rewards that you will receive, our greatest retribution will be the commitment, the seriousness and the motivation with which we will carry out this project.
In order to catch your attention, we presented you, above, a teaser - an extra scene post film - before we start the official shooting of the film.
About the author
50 Cuts Associação Cinematográfica is a non-profit association created in July 2015, which aims to create and promote projects in the field of filming and audiovisual.
50 Cuts has produced two short films. "Red Queen," a psychological thriller by Adriana Martins da Silva and Pedro Martins, scheduled to premiere in 2018, and "A Fêmea" by Pedro Martins and Diana Lima, who won the 2016 Yorn microCURTAS Contest, promoted by MOTELX. Both projects are framed in the genre thriller and terror, the focus of production of 50 Cuts.
The team behind "Calipso", in addition to 50 Cuts, is formed by Pedro Martins (Scriptwriter and Director), Paulo AM Oliveira (Director), Inês Marques (Assistant Director), Nuno Martini (Cinematography), Herberto Magalhães (Sound Director), Olga José (Make-up, Hair and Make-up FX), Diana Lima (Producer), Marlene Aldeia (Production Director), Joana Vieira (Head of Production), João Pedro Frazão(Art Director; Wardrobe), Mariana Nascimento (Art Assistant; Wardrobe Assistant), Olinda Lima (Catering) and the actors: Pedro Laginha and Adriana Moniz.
Pedro Martins and Paulo A. M. Oliveira are also the authors of the short film "Vegan girl", competing in the recent competition Yorn microCURTAS 2017 of MOTELX.
We need to reach € 3,000 by October 13, 2017, in order to start shooting the film in time. Our commitment is total and with your support we will try to make one of the best horror / suspense films nationwide.

This means that it will be linked, in an indelible way, to this future classic of national terror ... Well, even if it is not a classic, it is certain that your name will align with the team (on the imdb site, for example) and will be tattooed in the heart of Calipso.
