A nursery for the forests of the future

Our campaign aims to raise funds for the construction of a geodesic dome in Arrábida where we will plant the forests of the future. It will be a space of 112sqm where we will have a nursery of endogenous species of our region.

Worried and aware of the scourge of forest fires in Portugal in the last years, and feeling the urgency of acting for the maintenance of the Portuguese forest we want to create a nursery of endogenous species in the Natural Park of Arrábida! Arrábida is a biodiversity reserve that needs to be preserved and it is vital that its future be protected. We intend to collect seeds and create seedlings of the local species to help and promote the reforestation of this zone but also of other zones of the country with similar conditions to where these species can be routed.

Biovilla

In order to advance this challenge we need a space to do it, a nursery or, more concretely, a geodetic dome with 100m2 that will allow us to have the space and all the necessary conditions to ensure the growth of these new plants. But more than a nursery this dome will also be a training space in permaculture, agroforestry, seeds, germinated, fermented, nutrition, healthy food, among many other topics to which Biovilla is attentive and that promotes regularly.

Budget and due dates

All the funds raised in this campaign will be allocated to the construction of the dome in Biovilla, this being the budget presented to us by Nélson Troles, who will be responsible for the structure.

Budget: EUR 15 000

It includes the materials (structure, screen, floor, base of foundations) and its implementation in our terrain.

Estimated time for construction and assembly of the dome: 2 months (Oct to Dec 2018)

We expect to have the operational dome before the end of the year and hold the official inauguration in the new year 2018-19. :)
