Beekeeping plays a very important role in sustainability due to its positive impact on an environmental and socio-economics level. BeeRural counts on your contribution: together, we pollinate sustainable ideas.

Portugal has outstanding conditions for Beekeeping. It is therefore our mission to value this activity.

The activity of BeeRural will take place in the region of Pinhal Interior Sul and will focus on the commercialization of beekeeping related products: honey, pollen, bees wax and propolis.

We are also commited with the following goals:

  • promote a close contact with producers
  • provide consulting and training 
  • create an educational apiary where workshops and guided tours will be held

 

About the author

Raquel has a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Geography (specialization in GIS - Geographic Information Systems). Her strong interest in Beekeeping prompted her to attend courses, workshops and events related to this subject.

Her commitment to this subject was recently rewarded with the 2nd place on the contest "Terre de Femmes" with the project "Application of GIS in Beekeeping: a contribute to Beekeeping spatial planning in Portugal" (2013).
