VI Feitiço- A little more Magic...

This year EncantaTuna will hold the VI Feitiço, the female tunas festival at the University of Beira Interior and decided to create a campaign fund-raising for the Festival.

If you are not Portuguese you probably do not know what a Tuna is. A Tuna (not the fish!) is an academic group of university students that in their free time play and create new music and of course entertain the streets and cities of all the country. So if you are reading this you will learn a little bit more about magic and about a magical Tuna: EncantaTuna.

The "Feitiço" - Festival of Feminine Tunas of University of Beira Interior - organized by EncantaTuna – Feminine Academic Tuna of University of Beira Interior - is an academic event of playful and competitive character that promote Tuna’s and academic culture, as well as the University of Beira Interior and the city of Covilhã, Portugal.

Its main aim is to foster interaction between the Academic Tunas, University Students and the inhabitants of the beautiful Snow City, Covilhã, seeking to provide an weekend in a good mood, with good music and academic spirit.

The Feitiço is also a solidary festival and throughout its previous editions helped local institutions as the foundation of Lions of Portugal and Leos and Refood. This year the association that we support is the foundation of the Lions of Portugal.

This event was first held on 26th February 2011 and in this 6th edition of the Festival, we want to take again the magic of portuguese music and Tunas from across the country to the city's streets that welcomes us.

Because Covilhã and its people welcome students always with open arms and with a special affection, we welcome the Tunas invited as we have always done: the beautiful Snow City way.

Unfortunately financial supports are less and less ... but as we are a group full of grit and determination we not lowered our arms!

We combine our magic potions with the Internet’s magic powder and with a touch of a magic wand we created this project where with just one click YOU can make the VI Feitiço even more magical.

We need your help so we can offer to Tunas food and accommodation, hire a sound system, make posters to advertise the event and many other things we can unfortunately not yet manufacture in our cauldrons.

About the author

The EncantaTuna (TAFUBI) was born in November 4th, 2008 resulting from the desire of a group of friends to create a new Feminine Tuna in their University.

Since then, we tried to dignify, disseminate and represent the noblest academy, the University of Beira Interior (UBI). It was intended also to offer the students and music lovers, another option of musical style.

Also we counted on the unconditional support of our colleagues and friends members of Desertuna – Academic Tuna of the University of Beira Interior. After outlining the objectives, we quickly tried to choose songs and adapt them, as well as rehearse and create new themes.

During the months that followed, EncantaTuna made several appearances as Cultural Center of the Academic Association of the UBI always aiming to show our Academy our value, thus strengthening our right to the designation of Tuna. We have come then the sidewalks and stages of our city in order to cheer the people of the city of Covilhã.

In March of 2010, the EncantaTuna see recognized their effort and hard work to be granted the provisional Tuna status. A performance full of magic and with an unusual reception from the audience, this great family showed up on stage for the first time as Feminine Academic Tuna of University of Beira Interior in the UBI Academic Week of 2010.

With all the dedication and willingness to give back to the city that welcomes us as students all the support, we are united in organizing a single event, the "I Cidade Neve".

On May of 2010 the EncantaTuna participates in her first festival, the IV Tunas Festival of Arouca, where the Tuna won the prize for Best Tambourine and Best Serenade.

After nearly two years of existence on October of 2010, when the performance of the Freshman Reception, the EncantaTuna is given the final Tuna status of the Academy of Beira Interior.

And so, around our cauldron We will provide the ballads that delight you.
