3x Shakespeare

In the Superior School of Theater and Cinema we are creating 3 new projects from Shakespeare. Your support is essential to take the Theater further! Let's really make it happen!

We are students of the Theater course - production branch, at the School of Theater and Cinema (ESTC) - Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. The ESTC annually promotes projects with its students, thus contributing to the professional insertion of young actors, as well as to the development of Theater in Portugal.

As future stage art producers, we collaborate with the students of interpretation (actors) and stage design (scenographers), for the implementation of the end-of-year projects.

In 2018, the plays will be directed by the teachers and directors, Carlos Pessoa, Francisco Salgado and Álvaro Correia, and are inspired by three pieces by the famous English playwright, William Shakespeare, hence the title of the project to be 3xShakespeare.

We have the responsibility to raise funds for the realization of the artistic projects of our colleagues. In this way we learn in practice to perform tasks that we will apply in the professional life. And that's why we decided to launch this crowdfunding campaign.

All the funding will be used for the material production of scenarios, props and costumes necessary for the construction of each of the three projects.

Your support will be essential to further enhance the quality of Theater and Performative Arts, but also of Portuguese Television and Cinema, beginning with teaching, making it grow and giving us a taste of our passion for performing arts!

You will see that you do not regret it, and it is certain that one day you will see that these actors and actresses are right in front of you, in a theater room, in a soap opera or in a movie!

About the author

The present funding campaign through crowdfunding (PPL) is promoted by the Friends Association of the School of Theater and Cinema (NPC 51043226), a non-profit cultural association established in October 2012.

Assiciation of the Friends of Superior School of Theater and Cinema, aims to foster support for the training, research and dissemination of theater and cinema, particularly in the perspective of the activities developed by the ESTC, by its students and teachers.

Budget and due dates

The budget presented here is intended for the simultaneous production of three theatrical projects (3xShakespeare), that is, three scenarios from the work of Shakespeare. The pre-production phase, which includes the creation, the dramaturgy and the beginning of the rehearsals, will take place until the end of May. In the next stage will begin the production of the scenography, the creation of the costumes and the props that will be used in the pieces. It is at this stage, from the material conception and construction of the scenic elements (scenery, props and costumes) that we will need the funding via crowdfunding, which will be used to acquire the materials needed for production, as well as graphic design and promotional media. Assemblies and final tests will be carried out in June, as well as the presentation of project results.

Budget for 3 projects:

- Scenography = € 510

- Costumes = € 407

- Make-up = 150 €

- Props = 150 €

- Disclosure = 290 €

Total: € 1507

- 5% PPL + 2% payments = € 140

- 5% ESTC Friends Association = 83 €
