Cycling Without Age Lisbon needs your support to purchase two adapted bicycles to ride elderly people around Lisbon and give them back the joy of feeling the wind in their hair.

We are parents and children, uncles and brothers. We are all going to grow old, and we all know people to whom age has taken something. We want to give back to the elderly something that they lack: mobility.
And with the mobility we recover the joy, the contact with the others, the feeling of belonging and the certainty that despite the age we can be active and happy.
Why do we need your help?
We are a non-profit association and we are very keen to bring to Portugal a project that already makes happy people in more than 44 countries. It is called Cycling Without Age and allows the elderly to ride through the city in extraordinary vehicles: they are Danish bicycles that carry a pilot and two elderly. They even have a blanket to keep their legs warm and a waterproof cover for rainy days. To buy this bike and to publicize this project we need € 16 500, each vehicle worth € 7500. We believe that Lisbon needs two Trishaws. We are fortunate to have many friends in day centers waiting to be with us, anxious to tell us their stories and to feel the wind in their hair again.
With this money we know that we will do more than just pedaling: we will add movement to the lives of these people - a dimension that aging has taken away. We will allow them to feel more integrated, knowing that tehy are still part of the community, the city.
