Support for the distribution of the short film "Stop Looking at Me"
"Stop Looking at Me" is the third short film by director Carolina Aguiar. It was produced throughout this year (2023) and is ready to go to Film Festivals in 2024.
This project is completely independent. It was financed by the team itself, without the support of any public or private institution. As we spent all our funds making the film, we now have no money for it to be recognized and shared with the public.
Submission to Film Festivals is a crucial step for any film. Unfortunately, most festivals require submission fees to cover the administrative costs, selection and promotion of the event. These fees, which can vary between €5 and €45, are an essential part of promoting and recognizing our film.
Participating in Film Festivals provides a unique opportunity for "Stop Looking at Me" to reach a wider audience. The visibility generated at these festivals can attract the attention of distributors, producers and other industry professionals. Furthermore, selection for festivals contributes significantly to the artistic recognition of the film and the director, as well as the remaining technical team and cast.
This is why we need your help!
Synopsis
Two sisters submerge on a deep journey between reality, dreams and fantasy - an exploration of the female gender in horror films, delving into the issues of anxiety and the continued sensation of feeling someone is watching you.
Author's Note of Intent
"Stop Looking at Me" is an intense journey where two sisters get lost in a labyrinth between reality, dreams, and fantasy. This film explores the female genre in horror films, delving into the issues of female anxiety and the continued sensation of feeling someone is watching you. The protagonist, Inês, confronts the feeling of constant exposure, fueling the tension and mystery that linger throughout the narrative.
The film aims to challenge the conventions of the horror genre by involving the viewer in a narrative that plays with perceptions of reality, essentially functioning as a metacinematic commentary. The film seeks to defy audience expectations by manipulating the conventions of the horror genre, prompting reflections on the nature of the female character in cinema.
