Family business - poetry and snacks
After my wife and I went out of work with the first wave of covid-19 and with a newborn baby in our arms, we decided to combine all the savings we had and move on with our own business.
We decided to create a comfortable, familiar space that would bring the "home" environment to those who visit it. We then created an extension of our own home. The decoration was made by us, the art on the walls by Sofia, the old objects came from our grandparents' house. The books scattered everywhere are within the reach of those who want to leaf through them and can even water the plants if they want.
With all our love for Portuguese literature, in February 2021 we opened Orpheu: a space for snacks, good wines by the glass and cocktails.
Unfortunately, the second wave (and third ... and maybe fourth? We don't know what we are doing anymore!) Hindered the initial budget plans. With mandatory teleworking, there are no Portuguese people in downtown offices, tourists are scarce and bills are piling up. We are 4 living on this income: the two of us, our baby Leonardo and Sofia's mother, who meanwhile also lost her job and, obviously, helping the family will always be our priority.

We then decided to try to find a new form of income without ever neglecting what it cost us to create. We want to create a line of minimalist merchandise with tshirts, tote bags, mugs and more. In this line there will be quotes from our beloved Fernando Pessoa, Almada Negreiros, among others.
We intend to give visibility to local artists and promote them in our space, inviting them to present their work in our space and establishing partnerships for the creation of this "Orpheu" line.
