Noutroporto Women is a short narrated documentary that portrays the lives of nine female immigrants, between 20 and 60 years old, in the city of Porto. The audience’s main interaction with these women will be via interviews. As they tell their stories, the incredible cinematography of the film also captures the beauty of the city, its architecture, the city’s monuments and the daily living of the people. It brings to the screen the diverse environments of these women and some of their subjective thinking. It captures what they are doing to stay alive, whether its art, religion, sports, et cetera. All this will be divulged within the current-day city of Porto by showing the antagonisms of both the dialectical relationship of the city, versus the immigrant women’s lives in Porto. To some extent, it will show the importance of the history and economy of Portugal to the city, and other city highlights that are considered Cultural Heritage to Humanity. In this narrative, we will show the potential possibility that Porto has to be become part of each of these women, and how they leave their marks on Porto, through their language, dress, food and music taste, their art and so on.
The Photography: The photographs follow the same storyline as the documentary. The main difference is the photographic narrative pulls images from the best artistic moments, drawing attention to the artistic nature of the documentary production. Some images will also be taken according to the subjectivity of each character plus the City of Porto. The interaction between the individuals and city will be represented by the occupation of each individual in front of a city monument. Places in Porto will represent the situation of each woman's narratives. The images are colored, on a A3 or A2 size (depending on each photograph) and printed on 100% cotton photo paper.
