The return to the stage of the show "A Noite do Choro Pequeno" is scheduled for January 10, 2019, at the Espaço Escola de Mulheres, in Lisbon, and will be on stage until this month.
A Noite do Choro Pequeno, by João Ascenso, with interpretation by Alexandra Sargento and Sofia Nicholson, debuted at the Teatro da Luz in 2015, where completed two successful seasons; after three years, a collective will (author-director, actress and producer) leads us to bring to the scene this show that portrays the life of two women in Portugal in the 60's. Our objective in using this campaign crowdfunding is to guarantee the payment of several production expenses (see: Budget and Timing).
A Noite do Choro Pequeno, tells the story of two women who spend the night at a bus station. Isolated from the eyes of others, waiting for transportation, they go through time talking. One expects to be reunited with the past while the other escapes from it. Little by little, the conversation between the two leaves the truth at large and dawn reveals two different women.
Like Portugal, at the time, these women are also isolated from the world. Educated in silence, accustomed to observe and silence.
Hold on. They wait for life to change, they want it to have meaning. They feel the urge to breathe and show their own will. Think and say, observe and intervene.
A bench running through the scenic space, centering the action. A division between the two women. They are in the same place and yet separated. But there is more space around, there is place to sit and lie down, just want and the separation is over. It is up to the characters to decide when to end the isolation.
The light weighs on them and along the action it opens, creating a "right foot" that allows another breath.
Both begin prey to a wait that, in the walk of the spectacle, becomes a will to act.
Ultimately, when both are free, we are left with doubts about what it will be like when the two return to the world.
