ECOtudoNADA think the world through cinema

ECOtudoNADA is a project aimed at thinking the world, to reveal the children's vision of the planet from a cinematic perspective.

The technological revolution presents us with immense possibilities, so we want to explore pressing social and environmental issues, from the perspective of children and through a cinematographic lens. The works of young filmmakers, projected on walls, houses or streets, will bring their reflections and their voices to the surroundings of their ecosystems. These works will be an invitation to commit to the unique and no plan B planet to which we belong. And if cinema is changing, we want to use its seed of renewal at the screens of the world.

Supporting this project will allow carrying out the concept test of this action. We want the project to result in free and socially inclusive actions, so that all voices can be heard.

The seed

The world has changed. A cliché, of course as the cycles of change are intertwined in a perpetual mechanism. Yet, in the last year and a half we have faced changes so unavoidable, so drastic, that the act of questioning - in the broadest sense of the word - seems to have become more evident. More polarized. Greta Thunberg asked (us) “How dare you...?”. And we, who are those types of people who still dream of a better humanity, rush to complete the sentence: how dare we do nothing?

Step by step

We will facilitate cinema and video workshops, for children, using found footage and stop-motion animation.

We will promote the discussion of environmental and socially impacting themes, based on the concerns, aspirations and dreams of the children, without neglecting the third pillar of sustainability.

We will work, through image and sound, the premise that there is no “the other side of the world”:

• We want this action to contribute to framing the issues raised by children in a path of awareness for living in a global world.

• We want to create a path for connecting and experiencing a “human network” beyond networks.

We will use street action to communicate to the community, school, family, municipal (and give back to the world) the concerns and dreams of children.

References

We were inspired by the projects Inventing with the difference - cinema, education and human rights (several authors, Brazil, since 2014), Video in the villages (Vincent Carelli, Brazil, since 1986) and Un film dramatique (Éric Baudelaire, France 2019). We are also encouraged by the strength generated by the action of Greta Thunberg, which brought so many young people to the forefront of fighting for the planet.

About the author

Andreia is an illustrator, biologist, storyteller and quasi-filmmaker. She wants to turn stories into engines of awareness and growth.

Eliane is an architect and an eternal apprentice of the audiovisual arts. From Brazil, she brings us a passion for the lungs of the world and its inhabitants.

At the end of 2020, we decided to start projecting our concerns onto the street, on our own (Montgomery, or the anti-consumer Christmas) and together with other artists ( November 25 - Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women )

For this concept test, we have established a partnership with the Gomes Freire de Andrade School Parents Association.

We really believe in this project and we want to develop it in the best version of itself, at all times. Your support will allow us to fulfill this purpose.

Schedule
By the end of the summer, we will be preparing everything so that the concept test can take place in September.

Fulfilling this goal will allow us to evaluate the action, improve it and go in search of partners for its implementation, still during the next academic year, in the Greater Lisbon area. Towards the end, we are dreaming the best part: the ECOtudoNADA Film Show will share the works and reflections of OUR young filmmakers.

And then? May a new cycle beggin!
