An acoustic journey through my musical universe on my first album of original music. I ask your collaboration to help finance this album so that it becomes a reality
"Canções de Ninguém" translated as "Nobody's Songs '' is the title of my first solo album. A dream that I wanted to realize for a long time. A set of eight original musics, some are songs and others are instrumental music. The influences are quite diverse, but maybe Música do Mediterraneo would be the best label for this record.
I decide to start this Crowdfunding campaign to help cover some of the many expenses involved in the process of recording a fully self-produced disc. The campaign works as a pre-sale system for the album, it is in a way an advance purchase of the album.
Your help will make all the difference. Thanks!
I leave some more information and details of the album here for the most curious.
Where does the music come from? Are we creators or mere receivers, channeling the intangible, that which vibrates in the heart of consciousness and that only art can communicate? “Canções de Ninguem” gives name to this vision of music as being uncreated, immanent from the nature of the soul simultaneously organic, in eternal becoming and recreation. This album is born out of the need to compile and record some of the original compositions that have come to me in recent years. Some instrumental and others sung, in song format.
My career as a musician is quite unique. I have a strong connection with the ancient and ancestral through the traditions and ways of doing antiquity, the peoples and cultures that once inhabited these lands where we now live. These are some of the reasons that led me to travel to places where ancestral cultures still live, being part of everyday life, hence my desire to travel to countries like India, Turkey, Egypt and Morocco .. All these experiences marked my artistic identity intensely, creating an impact on my way of perceiving art and music. This imagery that creates my musical reality was not only stimulated by the various trips to the East, the fact that I have lived in Portugal in the last eleven years and all the tours that have emerged here has also had a great impact to enrich my musical vision. In Portugal I also absorbed the different forms of traditional singing from Adufeiras, Alentejo singing to fado, which soon made me establish bridges with traditional singing such as flamenco, khayal from India, or Arab voices.
Through the instruments from different parts of the world, which I play and which have become my means of expression, the unique sounds of these compositions are born. Without looking for any kind of superfluous exoticism at any time. The instrumentation I use is based exclusively on acoustic instruments and from different cultures, such as Sitar from India, Robab Afghan, Saz or Oud from Turkey and the Middle East… Instruments that I have studied and deepened over the years and that now they are my main means of expression, incorporating and respecting the aesthetic forms of each culture, but at the same time trying to transcend them, thus creating my own language and musical aesthetics.
This project unites several musicians who have crossed my path, musicians that I appreciate as artists and performers. The musicians who are going to participate in this album have very different origins, each with their very different culture as well, but with something in common: the need to express themselves through music. They are: the Spanish singer Laura Santos, the Indian singer Shibani Sur, the Portuguese singer Mariana Root, the Ney (Arabic flute) by Fernando Depiaggi, the Bansuri (Indian flute) by Sunil Pariyar, the Double Bass by Francesco Valente, the Persian Santur by Nuno Silva, Percussions by Ricardo Passos, Baltazar Molina, Alex Guitard, Francisco cabral, Nataniel Melo, Pep Terricabres and Sebastian Scheriff to Lyra and Yalil tambur by Carlos Ramirez, Percussions and Dilruba by Miriam Encinas, Dave Bodd's Irish Bodhran, Violin by Mariam, and Adriano Diaz's Clarinet.
Have a good listening!
