Chérie, meu anjo, meu amor! Livro/CD

A death from breast cancer and an unpredictable event led to the writing of the book "Chérie, my angel, my love!" whose objective is to create a donation to help and also publicize the Associação Unidas Para Vencer.

The origin of the project

It was late afternoon, on a mild autumn day in the year two thousand and seventeen, when my son challenged me:

- Papa, you who have a knack for writing, why don't you write the story of the love you lived with mommy?

"…Yes," I retorted, "that would be an excellent idea on condition that I find the letters I wrote to your mother when we were single." But those letters disappeared and she, still alive, one day, said: "Oh my love, those beautiful letters that you used to write to me when we were single, disappeared and I, from time to time, loved to read them" . Now, in order to write the book you suggest to me, it would be nice to insert the content of these letters. I no longer say the copy of the manuscripts, but the content would be interesting. But since they disappeared, there's no way I can write the book.

And, it is a fact, we had tried countless times to find them, but always without success.

The unforeseen event that lit the flame

However, the unthinkable would happen. The next day, at ten o'clock in the morning, without having done it on purpose, I found these letters, carefully tucked away in the back of a bedside table. When I saw them, I couldn't believe it. I started by reporting the fact to my friends. Many, most of them, did not fail to tell me that it was the sign that their spirit was giving me, to proceed with the writing of the work.

So, right away, in my mind, a light dawned: yes, I would go ahead with the writing of the book, but it would make it useful to society. In addition to the letters from her dating days, she would insert texts and poems about nostalgia, written after her death, and would put together a CD with songs.

The purpose of the project

The small idea, which began to germinate, was that the publication could help alleviate the suffering of those who, as my wife suffered, are suffering, on a daily basis, from the setbacks of the damned breast cancer. Thus, through marketing, it would create a donation to support the Unidas Para Vencer Association, a selfless and noble institution that provides assistance to patients with breast cancer.

It was an excellent idea, a noble purpose! So I decided to move forward. I entered the project with my body and soul, I dedicated all my efforts, my belief to it, and finally, after many hurts that surfaced, I finished writing. Now only the publication remains.

About the author

If it weren't for my wife's disease, breast cancer, I would never have known the United To Win Association and would never have awakened to this cause.

When, in the last quarter of 2013, breast cancer was detected in an advanced state, I was far from imagining how much that terrible and excruciating disease would completely upset and change our lives. Those were horrible years because, in your case, the physical and mental pain was permanent, which made me plunge into the same psychological suffering, because, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't find solutions to alleviate your illness.

He was looking, by all means, for the miraculous remedy: he inquired on the Internet; talked and questioned friends; visited natural food stores; etc…, etc. But no matter how hard I looked, the healing solutions didn't appear. However, during my research, I came across Unidas Para Vencer, a non-profit humanitarian association dedicated to supporting patients with breast cancer, which was born in the hospital of S. Francisco Xavier for the initiative and for the belief from Dr. Maria do Céu Oliveira Martins, an employee of the medical staff of this institution.

I learned that the association carried out its mission with extraordinary dedication and commitment, which meant that, right away, an empathy for it was born in me. Little by little, I started participating in actions in favor of the organization, as I felt this, almost, as a duty.

Until my son's suggestion and chance led to the writing of this book, which I decided to publish in order to help the association. I have always been a man of humanitarian causes. This is another one and I need your cooperation and contribution to bring it to fruition.

Who am I? Simply me, Manuel Gaspar, nothing more and nothing less. Taken by my father to Gallic lands, I entered working life at a very young age and, from the outset, working in the “hard”, as they say. At the same time I was working, I was also studying, finishing the professorship at Alliance Française, a FLE course, and I reached the top of the hierarchy in my professional career. I also learned music, singing and classical guitar, starting to write and compose my own compositions. To date, I've recorded five albums and have a novel edited.

At the age of forty-two I returned to Portugal and, since then, I have exercised various professions, including: French teacher; salesman of phonograms and commercial director in two phonographic publishers. Currently, I am retired and I dedicate myself to writing and music.

NOTE: We are planning to launch the book with public presentations in Oeiras and Pombal, whose Chambers, whom we thank, have already shown availability and receptivity for this purpose. We expect this to happen in the month of October. However, these presentations are dependent on the state of the pandemic and containment restrictions, which may show a delay and may occur later than expected, and other presentations will take place, everything depends on the receptivity of the authorities to this project .
