We are self-taught artists, not rely on support of publishers, agencies or management and have always been ourselves to manage our careers and destinations of the project, so we appeal to our audience, fans, friends and family, asking that in this way we can offer economic support in order to help us pay for hours of recordings and their consequential and incidental expenses.
The Boémia Vadia is a project created in Valencia, Spain, in 2012, by the portuguese Mário Ferreira and Kim Coutinho, and the parisien Rebecca Amar.
During that year and the following, we presented live concerts throughout the Iberian Peninsula, and self-released 3 demos in Spain with limited number of physical copies. In August 2013 we decided to return to Portugal (Lisbon), where we stablish our primary base of operations.
Boémia Vadia
The Boémia Vadi was born in January 2012, between the Mediterranean port of Valencia and the mountains, under a enchanted tent of circus.
Influenced by horses, sailors and prostitutes, red wine, black roses and chests with old tin toys, Boémia established its own, mix and unique style.
Rebecca Amar brought from Paris, the burlesque and vaudeville environment of cabaret's of Montmartre, set in literature and the damn poetry of Apollinaire, Baudelaire, or Rimbaud.
Mário Ferreira, a nomadic, love bum in the constant search for differences, arrived one day at that port, preceded by long trips along the paths of life and the world, with the saddlebags full of melodies, lullabies, hymns symbolizing the merger with the memories of a past, with the brilliance of the 80s, or the romantic and tragic obscurity of 90 by adding all learning and cross between the roots and traditions of the Iberian folk, from fado to flamenco.
Kim Coutinho, the first mate of this ship, and the most faithful companion of travel, arrived with his wisdom and mastery, his armonic and dreamy genius perfect complement to the rudimentary and traditional ways of this new discover, who would later called as electro-dark-cabaret.
Come the summer of 2013, Boémia Vadia decided to embark on new cosmic and tempting adventure, driving the boat toward the Atlantic coasts, with the inordinate ambition for power "shipwrecked" on the banks of Lisbon, in search of new and intense adventures.
Rendered will immensity and history of the old town and the relentless pursuit of originality and innovation, included in its crew to the new sailor, Emanuel Ramalho, which increases the Boémia´s family and thereby facilitates private "treasure hunt", the legacy and heritage of Bauhaus, Edith Piaf, Joy Division, Alfredo Marceneiro, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Carlos Paredes, Carlos Gardel, Serge Gainsbourg, The Cure, David Bowie, Amalia Rodrigues, António Variações, Bárbara, Jacques Brel, Paco de Lucia, Radiohead, Zeca Afonso, Nina Hagen, and many others, that over time, were writing the routes we´ve sailed the seas today.
Boémia Vadia is pleased to invite you to meet a part of the result of the trips, gatherings and hangovers, a dificult but intense route.
From Valencia to Lisbon.
