Mobile Civil Protection Academy: Growing Up Safely
More prevention, more safety, a better future.

What if we could teach children to save lives through prevention and action in the face of risks and disasters, even before they need to do so?

The Mobile Civil Protection Academy was created with a clear mission: to train citizens from an early age to be more aware, prepared, and capable of acting in risky situations. Because safety begins in childhood — and knowledge can make all the difference.

This innovative project brings civil protection education directly to children through a fully equipped mobile unit—a true learning space on wheels. We go to schools, kindergartens, and children's play areas, creating hands-on, interactive educational experiences adapted for children aged 3 to 10.

Here, learning is about participating.
Children will explore, simulate, and understand how to act in different situations: fires, earthquakes, accidents, domestic or road hazards. They will learn to recognize dangers, adopt safe behaviors, and ask for help when needed. And, above all, they will realize that every gesture can make a difference.

But this project isn't just for children.

The Mobile Academy also involves families, educators, and the entire community, reinforcing a culture of prevention that extends beyond the school. By bringing civil protection agents closer to the population, we are building more informed, better prepared, and more resilient territories.

With your support, we will:

  • Bringing practical and innovative training to hundreds of children.
  • Create a unique mobile education unit for prevention.
  • Promoting safety habits from childhood
  • Involving families and the community in a culture of protection.
  • Contributing to safer and more resilient territories.

Every contribution is a step towards a more secure future.

Why prepare a child today…
It's about protecting the future and the community tomorrow.

Storm Kristine had a severe impact on a country (and also a municipality) whose community is unprepared to deal with risk. It is urgent to invest in risk education so that our communities, informed and educated, are resilient and know how to act in the face of risk.

About the author

The Municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere is a local authority committed to the sustainable development of the territory, the quality of life of the population, and the promotion of public policies focused on security, education, and social cohesion.

With strong ties to the community and its educational fabric, the Municipality has established itself as an active agent in implementing innovative initiatives, with a special focus on awareness, prevention, and civil protection. Its actions are based on proximity to the population and the promotion of projects with a direct impact on the territory.

Within the scope of civil protection, it develops continuous work in coordination with local agents, promoting information, preparedness and response actions to risk situations. Education for prevention, especially among children and young people, is a strategic priority, recognizing its role in building more resilient communities.

By submitting this project to the PPL platform, the Municipality aims to involve the community in a collective initiative, promoting a culture of active participation and shared responsibility in building a safer territory. This is especially important after Storm Kristin passed through the area, leaving a trail of destruction that the community still grapples with daily, though not always in the most structured or informed way.

As the promoting entity of the Mobile Civil Protection Academy: Growing Safely , the Municipality reinforces its commitment to innovation, proximity, and the protection of people, investing in a project with a lasting impact on future generations.
