COVA FUNDA - Debut EP DIVÃ

The “COVA FUNDA - EP de Estreia DIVÔ campaign aims to raise the necessary funds to cover part of the expenses inherent in recording a musical project.

Hello, we are DIVÃ . We came together as a band last year and now we are working to record an EP with what we have been writing during this time together. When the band formed, we didn't expect the opportunities that arose, of having the possibility of even playing for people, besides our group of friends. We are very grateful for your support; it was felt. It's been really good to discover ourselves, both as individual musicians and as a band - we didn't know how much making music together would bring us closer, especially when each one has different influences and there wasn't much of a group relationship prior to the formation of Divã. At the beginning of 2024 we set a new goal, to record and edit an EP with a collection of some songs that we have been composing. The 6 tracks in question are (in order): “ Knees ”, “ Morte em Abrantes ”, “ 1001 e Noites ”, “ Sangue ”, “ Ponto-Morto ” and “ Mãe ”.

However, we know the costs associated with producing an EP in full. We have raised and saved, through merchandising and performance fees, as much as we can in the current paradigm of emerging bands. We expect that the total expenses will be close to the €1500 mark, encompassing: Salaries, Services and Promotion. This budget was designed with the help and consent of everyone involved.

This team does not just include us, but technicians and creatives from all stages of the process: Carolina Rebelo (Graphic Design); Cedofeita Studios Team (Recording); David Amaral (Producer and Mixer) and Rodrigo Domingos (Masterer).

We hope that the “ COVA FUNDA ” project is not just a sample of the work of 5 aspiring musicians, but rather a celebration of the work of everyone who embraced the project. If, through this campaign, we are given the opportunity to move forward, it is with these people that we want to do so.

About the author

Divã are a post-punk band, based in Amadora. The members have two guys from Matosinhos, one from Almada, a kid from Carcavelos and a lady from Mafamude.” The project appears in January 2023, integrating the 5 original members: Gabriel Nery (Voice and Saxophone); Mafalda Andrade (Electric Bass); Salvador Lobo Xavier (Drums); Francisco Nunes and João Milho (Electric Guitars).

Since the moment of union we have been actively composing original songs, written in Portuguese. We believe we have found a characteristic sound, exploring mainly post-punk to Portuguese rock. Until the moment of creating this campaign, we have had close to a dozen concerts - one of them being the final of the Corroios Modern Music Festival, where we were awarded 1st place in the competition. We thought it pertinent to leave a small list of constant influences in our creation process: Unwound , Mão Morta , Protomartyr, Fontaines DC and Gilla Band.

Budget and due dates

Not all values agreed between the team will be disclosed for reasons of confidentiality and personal protection. However, both the value of the crowdfunding and the money coming from the band were discussed and approved by those involved in the project; focusing on approaching the 1500€ mentioned above.
