We need your precious donation to support the costs of holding the 5th LGBTQI+ Pride March of the Algarve and Arraial (which will be awesome!). Support your fight, support your pride march!

• A study identified a 185% increase in anti-LGBTI+ content on social media between 2019-22 and which mainly attacked issues of “gender identity”.
• An LGBTI+ religious event was interrupted by ultraconservative nationalist groups .
• The presentation of the children's book "No meu Bairro" was invaded by the same group described above.
• An LGBT sauna owner was the target of transphobic hate speech .

These are just some of the concerns that the LGBTQI+ community has faced in recent years in Portugal, not to mention the growing wave of anti-democracy movements and policies that have been witnessed and which call into question already acquired human rights , not only for LGBTQI+ people but for many others.

The 5th edition of the Algarve LGBTQI+ Pride March will be on the 8th of June and will have an Arraial until midnight.

About the author

MOA – Organizing Committee for the LGBTQI+ Algarve Pride March is a collective of non-profit associations, which were organized with the aim of concerting efforts to promote the construction of a safer, more inclusive and egalitarian community. To this end, it organizes the Algarve LGBTQI+ Pride March, as well as other events that are considered relevant to the achievement of these principles.

The founding associations were APF – Association for Family Planning, MAPS – Movement to Support AIDS Problems, Sê Mais Sê Melhor, Associação Xis, AeQuum and with the support of Transparente.

Budget and due dates

The costs of holding a march and festival this year are high!
This campaign aims to raise as much as possible to cover all costs. We have very little time to collect donations and your donation is absolutely necessary to be able to provide a memorable and safe march for the entire Algarve community, whether or not LGBTQI+, so that everyone can live freely in harmony.

Here are some estimated costs:

• €500 for private security at the event
• €181.56 civil liability insurance
• Bonuses for protection/monitoring by PSP (mandatory)
• Copyright costs
